First Hookah Experience

It was the first night I moved in to the dorms. My friend got a small no-name hookah for his birthday. We were drinking a little bit and then after a couple hours we get a knock on the door and it was the RA and 2 police officers. We had to dump out all the alcohol that we had and since we were all shaken up and upset we took the hookah and smoked some vanilla shisha in my friend's pickup truck. We forgot to bring foil so we had to use the metal screen that came with the hookah. The bowl was too big for the screen so the flavor was weak and the smoke was harsh. I was 18 at the time and have been hooked since.

I first smoked at age 17 in 1970. At a tea house in the Arab section of the Jerusalem old city. Had to go upstairs through a house and into a room with no roof but there were grape vines on thin wood boards with grapes (a Kosher Sukkah).We were brought hot sugared tea and in those days I think that flavoured shisha was only home-made.We smoked Ajami Iran style .
There were only a few Arabs and Israelis. Today I would not do it since its dangerous.
I had a close call in 1970 another time when I was invited by 4 Arab guys to smoke and toward the end of the session I heard a few words that I know in Arabic which in english is "the back-side,posterier,derrier, etc. so I ran my ass quick out of there. True story.I bought some Iran Ajami last week which goes to Iraq,then Jordan,then to Israel.After that life caught up with me and I started to smoke again daily 8 years ago.

I first smoked my senior year of high school. Couple friends of mine bought a hookah and invited me over. I was standing as I took my first puffs and fell over into a couch because the buzz was so strong. Been smoking ever since! Now I've got 7 hookahs. Two KMs, 3 Myas, a Havana, and a no name.

During my portlier days I was traveling through Turkey with my parents and we stopped by a cafe on the Galata Bridge in Istanbul. Tried a hookah with apple shisha and...

It would've been 2 1/2 years ago for me.
My first session was awful. It wasn't that tasty, and i about buzzed till i puked.
MMM, I want some hookah right now though.

Great experience, got two Hookahs of my own now thanks to how much fun it is.

My first time was when I just turned 16, so 3 years ago, most of the lounges didnt card. I smoked at this place called the double apple, I got so extremely buzzed my hands started tingiling and didnt think I could drive home. From what Ive read on this forum I probably smoked Tangiers that night.

And after that, I started going to there or other lounges around 3 times a week

first smoked in my freshman year of highschool, i was 14 or 15, spring break and my friend was hanging at my house so we thought we would try out one of my homemade hookahs i have. i was a natural, haha, my friend however was coughing, stumbling, and complaining about being hungry afterwards.

my first time was my junior year of high school. My girlfriend's best friend was a waitress at the local hookah bar and got me in, even though i was barely 17. The mix got messed up and ended up tasting terrible 10 minutes into the session, but i didnt know any better. The very next day we went and got a hookah. But I knew absolutely nothing about smoking for the first month. I used the flimsy metal screen and managed to burn the hell out of every bowl that i smoked.

Then one day everything clicked. I started mixing, using foil, using the right kind of coals. Now over a year later I work in a hookah bar and fucking love it!

Hookah officially changed my life!

My first hookah expirience was my freshmen year of highschool. It was nahkla orange or lemon and I was in a group of people alot older than myself. Those guys acted like they were pros but I remember they didn't manage the coals at all. Even though it was burning, I was amazed at the smoothness and the feeling of not being able to get up off of the couch. :]

I don't remember what brought up the idea - but when I was planning my first trip to Vegas, my roommate and I thought it would be a brilliant idea to visit a hookah bar. I wish I could remember WHY we wanted to go, but the fact was that we wanted to do something different while we were out there.

At that point (2-3 years ago - can't say for sure about today) there was a hookah lounge in the mall thingy at the Stratosphere. We went in for our first session - it seemed like HOURS and came out all tingly. We bought a hookah when we got back, and smoked it every month or two for about a year and a half. Then suddenly a few months ago my roommate bought the Hookah Pukah sampler pack so we could try some different flavors, and we started really getting into it and smoking almost every day just to try a new flavor.

We eventually got sick of Hookah Pukah and found real tobacco and this forum and it was ON from there. I've bought 2 hookahs and over $150 of tobacco and I'm not looking back.

Whoever thought of the idea when we were planning our Vegas trip is to blame for this!!

14, didnt even know what a hookah was. In Pakistan with a bunch of chicks and they ordered it, I thought it was like some kind of a drink that was served fancily, sucked on the fancy "straw" and was SHOCKED to see that I was smoking, at the time I was soo against smoking that I was pissed, but a great laugh looking back.

First Semester in College. I was smoking Marlboro Reds at that time. Some assistant managers at the deli where I worked were throwing a party, went over with a buddy of mine. They had a hookah out when I got there, didn't know what it was, thought it was for no good, but they explained it to me. Don't remember what I smoked, it was such a long time ago, but we smoked a lot of fruity flavors all night long. I kept asking questions and learning. My buddy bought one soon after and I would smoke with him, since I was poor and my parents watched my finances like a hawk. Got out of college and another friend of mine bought me one for my birthday after I took him to a hookah bar. Been smoking it up ever since, and I have rarely even picked up a cigarette since then.

i had just turned 18...my friend told me he was taking me to a bar, so i was like whatever, cool...some dive that doesnt' card. we walked in, and all i saw was a bunch of people smoking...i had no idea what was going on, but it was cool. he went up and ordered a double apple hookah, and after the first couple drags i was hooked.

went back to the lounge a couple weeks later and bought a junior hookah for $100, and started on my journey...almost 4 years later here i am.

I was at a party with a buncha hippie friends, very chill, probably like 4 years ago and we went to the basement, where a hookah was set up. I was curious since I smoked cigars and a pipe already by that point and sat down to try, I think it was a 2 hose since I very distinctly remember sitting with an attractive female friend of mine and blowing amazing ice chilled vanilla-mint smoke into eachother's faces. I don't know if it was the hookah or the smoke blowing eroticism but I still remember that moment very vividly and will for the rest of my life.

At that moment I was hooked.

Still haven't had nilla-mint since then lol, but I plan to order about 500 gs of each AF flavor to make that mix and relive that night (albeit with a much better setup and my wife).

My friend Stash bought her family hookah (from Saudi Arabia) to my place and we enjoyed a double apple pipe.
And so began my love for hookah!...Mmm...She still laughs and says she is proud to have watched my hookah addiction grow...

My first time was midway through freshman year. Some of my friends in the dorms had built their own hookah out of copper pipes and a big old coffee pot. it was one of the most ghetto hookahs you have ever seen, but the pull was so smooth. In the time since then i have smoked several manufactured hookahs, but none as smooth as that one until i built my own.

btw, they upgraded their hookah with a bohemian style vase so that it now looks respectable.

17, my bro brought one home, we smoked Nakhla DA, and from that day on I will never forget the taste. Was weird how sometimes it tasted like licorice and sometimes it tasted like apple.

From that day on it has been a smoke machine at my house.

Started last year, just barely 15. We went to a hookah lounge and smoked two bowls of double apple. We saved up for a hookah then and got one and a bunch of flavours, we smoked for 17 hours that day and i have obtained many hookahs since then =D

i started smoking hookah when i was 14, in the summer of 2002. the flavor was nakhla double apple and i loved it right away.
ever since i have owned alot of different hookahs and i`m always looking for new ones to add to the collection.
my next purchase will be a KM or MZ and some tangiers lucid to try out (even though i don`t care for regular tangiers, except the kashmir peach).
