clickhea
when using the phunnel bowl, no matter how tight i seem to make the foil, after a while of moving the coals around the foil starts to droop and block the center hole preventing air to pass through(making the pull really hard)instead of putting a center hole in the foil over the hole (i hate doing this)what are some techniques you guys use to prevent this from happening? staygone
I think the best bet is to put a hole in the center of the bowl. Why don't you like doing so?-QM

I always poke either 1-3 smaller holes or one big hole in the middle and it doesn't change anything for me. If you poke a hole in the middle and your smoke lessens try to add a little more coal, and you should have big clouds without the foil getting sucked down. SimplexCoda
ya the best bet is going to be a hole over the middle. I have a glass screen from mnh and it only has one hole in it and its directly over the hole in the bowl and it is big. It doesnt make the smoke any less. flick92
Use a larger sheet of foil to cover the top of the bowl and wrap around it so only the stem of the bowl is showing. This should keep it from slipping
srawas89
Make sure you are not using non-stick foil, I have used that before on one of my bowls (not a phunnel) and the foil slipped (hence the name non-stick). If those techniques as mentioned above do not work than try double foiling. This may or may not work as I dont know since I dont own a phunnel bowl. MechAnt
Here's the hole pattern I use. I've never had the foil sag with this pattern. Three concentric circles. That simple.[attachment=2027:holes.jpg]
EternalSoil
put more shsisha in.also, that means you probably dont have enough hole outside of the center, thus its trying to get more air, pulling the top in.
hookah hippie
the hole in the middle is necessary so you can get an easy pull on your pipe
Codename067
Make your holes around the center hole of the Phunnel and try one small hole dead inside.QUOTE (mattarios2 @ Aug 22 2008, 04:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (clickhea @ Aug 22 2008, 06:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i feel like once i poke the hole in the center, my smoke clouds tend to lessenthat shouldn't be happening.Of course that happens. That's only normal. Poke one HUGE hole in the middle and your clouds will be pretty bad because you are allowing regular air to get through the Hookah which mixes with the tobacco smoke that's vaporizing, so it will infact have an effect. MechAnt
Actually Eric posted a while back that hole in the center won't effect smoke all that much. His post was long and involved A LOT of physics and stuff.

staygone
Or, instead of deviating from a very simple fix that takes no time whatsoever, poke a hole in the center of the bowl. His problem is that the foil sags and prevents a good smoke. Just poke a hole in the center, the same size as all the rest, and call it a problem solved. -QM
