Bowl Tastes Like Charcoal..

Recommended Posts

I've made many good bowls before, where they taste really great.
However, whenever less smoke starts to come I was told to move around the charcoal/flip it over to reheat the Shisha.
I'm using the "Akhla Charcoal", which lights up very easily. However, when I move it around the ashes fall into the wholes of the Foil.
As soon as this happens you can immeadiatly taste the Charcoal.

Till now I've only half packed my bowls, not even 3/4 up to the rim, leaving a lot of space in the bowl.
I'm wondering if I pack the bowl all the way up to the rim, will this change the effect of the ashes?

Because I read somewhere on this forum your acctually supose to move the Ash arround the foil.
Thanks ahead Edited by dangderr

When you ash the coal, set it down in the ash tray until all the ash is cleared off. Then put the coal back onto the bowl.

If ash is in the bowl, it'll taste more so like coal. Prior prevention compared to how much you pack the bowl should be considered.

I've used the Akhla coals before, and the way they ash, it makes it hard to not get ash in the bowl. Try to ash them more often, around every 10 min or so, so the ash doesnt build up as much. You should also try some 3 Kings if you're gonna be using QLs (quick light coals).

The thing is, how am I supose to get the Ash into the ashtray without it falling into the wholes.
As soon as you touch it it already falls apart.

I don't understand how I'm supose to ash them without gettin it into the bowl though.

The way the Akhla coals ash, you have to ash them often, just pick them up and drop them a few times in the ashtray. If there is any ash left on the bowl, just blow it off. When I had Akhlas, I usually didnt ash, once the smoked started to thin out, I just put on a windcover

What exactly does a windcover do (besides obviously keep the Coal from moving around)
Alright, I'll try that the next time I smoke and see how it goes.

the windcovers help keep in the heat also, allowing the bowl to smoke better for longer

Assess the bowl with a gentle touch, briskly moving the coal with subtle motions in order to not devistate the ash cake.

Step It Up, you can do this. I've used those coals and had no problems. A gentle touch won't only make your bowl ash free, it has many usable applications.

just pull them off and drop them into the tray more often, while off puff short but kinda hard into your hose and that can help push some of the ash out of the hole (not great but it works some). also you can pull the bowl off (might need to let it cool) and blow into the bottom that can help clean out the ash pretty well but its kind of a pain since you need to let the bowl cool a little normally
