Screw On Ice Chillers

Recommended Posts

So my roommate bought one of those screw on ice chiller things that sits under the bowl and cools smoke at the stem.

It worked ok I guess, I didn't see a 'huge' benefit from it, but he said he noticed it.

Well, while cleaning it last night, he managed to snap the stem in half because he got the cleaning brush (too big obviously) stuck up in there and while pulling it out cracked the stem inside the ice bath bowl.

For shame.

Personally, waste of $14. For me, it didn't work for shit and broke way too easily.

Just tell her to be VERY careful with the stem. Apparently it screws into that bowl, but is also glued or otherwise, as there were some strange non-metal pieces that came out of ours when it broke.

Sadly, it broke leaving part of it threaded into the bowl, and part of the threads on the broken stem part. It would probably be possible to fix, however the stem would sit low and you couldn't put the ash catcher on as the bowl would sit sorta down in the ice chamber.

But - like I said - they're chincy and I didn't see a huge benefit other than novelty.

Oh, and use a small brush to clean it. If there's any sort of serious 'sticking' when trying to pull the brush out - it's too big for that thing. The problem was that the brush got stuck in the stem, and while holding the bowl and trying to pull on the brush, it had such a grip that it pulled the stem out of the bowl with it, and the brush was still stuck IN the stem.

The first question is "Are the chillers beneficial?" I have a chiller hookah and the answer is no,zero nada difference at all. Just a waste of good ice.I've even smoked it alongside a non chiller and there was no difference.
