c4r80n
I just got my hookah today and smoked for the first time. I used the stainless steel bowl since the grommet wouldn't hold the clay one very tightly. BTW is it bad to use the metal one? Anyways, I smoked AW Lemon with one 3 king on a screen and it was cool. Very light flavor, smoke was about the same as a cigarette. I should have added one more coal for more smoke, but I was smoking by myself and was starting to get buzzed already. Overall i am happy! ...despite that the base is wobbily, one of the hoses had a chunk of something in it (which was sucked in, ew). POLL: what should i use to clean the hookah with? water? soapy water? alcohol? salty alcohol?
mOrOccanQuEEn
congrats i use just plain water... i cleaned my hose with soap once and it took days to get that taste out. i've used windex in the base from time to time but you have to make sure to rinse it really well. also if you can get your hands on a set of cleaning brushes they work great... you'd be surprised at how much residue ends up in your hose. Brad
The only problem I've heard people have with metal bowls are they get too hot, which can burn the shisha/ma'assel/tobacco.Have you ever smoked at a hookah lounge? I'm asking because if you haven't, you'd have nothing to compare the smoke with. Try using foil once, and maybe more coal. See if you can get the clay one to work. When I first got my hookah I didn't know what I was doing, so I was smoking it with too little coal and too much tobacco for a week ...until I figured it out. yashman19
Brushes definately help, like mentioned above, especially on the stem. I smoke my hookah and give it a light rinse with water after every session, but brush the stem once every month...You should see all the gunk that comes out of it..Nasty. But for light cleaning in between brushes, you could soak your hookah in hot/warm soapy water for 30 minutes, and then just rinse it good. Not too difficult to keep the hookah clean and in good working order. Also, using a metal bowl should be fine, but I heard they can be difficult to have a good session with. They tend to absorb a lot of the heat from the coals, and help burn the tobacco, so be careful and don't use too much heat with it. And if you want to use your clay bowl but can't due to a crappy grommet, try getting a sheet of paper towel, soaking it in water, wringing the water out, tear off a long strip, and wrap that around the top of the stem followed by the bowl. Moist paper towels can sometimes provide an even better fit for bowls. Also, congrats on the hookah. You will always remember your first time smoking
c4r80n
yeah people were acting strange around me. They'd glance and avoid eye contact and even hello nods. they think i'm smoking drugs i guess. too bad for the hookah/drug association.
