dorafish
i just tried with less coals but its still doin the same thing any other ideas?
modisess
what kind of coals are you using? i used to have this problem when smoking nakhla, but AF tobacco seems to work pretty well with any type of coal i use, i've smoked AF with some crappy no brand QL's and silver coals and i always get the flavor.. although it was kinda crappy because of the chemical taste from the QL.. but at least there was the flavor. dorafish
and yea i just tried again with looser packin and it still has lotsa smoke but no taste...
mushrat
how much coal are you using? What you are experienceing sounds like too tightly packed bowl and still too much heat.
mattarios2
are you stirring the shisha very well in the jar before packing? If you don't you won't get the flavors kickin around before you pack it and will cause a flavorless smoke.
dorafish
well ive been tryin with the instant light right now because it faster to heat up...ive been alternating between 2 coals and 1 coal (i used 2 coals before for a long time without this happening) and yea the hookah im puttin in is quite juicy
mattarios2
make sure to sprinkle like others have said.Don't stuff it in the bowl with AF, just sprinkle it all in then lightly press down so it is a tiny bit below the edge of the bowl. And how are you doing your hole pattern? wpw36
have you tried going thru and THOROUGHLY cleaning the pipe any residue in the stem/hose will kill flavor
mushrat
QUOTE (wpw36 @ Sep 2 2008, 10:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>have you tried going thru and THOROUGHLY cleaning the pipe any residue in the stem/hose will kill flavorTry 1 1/2 coals. Are you breaking the 1 coal up or are you plopping it on whole? Try breaking the coals in half, and using 3 halves placed around the edges of the bowl.If you are using a smaller bowl, try using 1 coal, broken in half and set around the edges. Residue may mask the flavour with an old or nasty flavour, but it can't actually reduce the flavour itself.
dorafish
i just tried it with 3 halves like you suggested and theres a bit more taste now but still not as much before...is there anything else i should try on top of that?
modisess
what flavor are you using? and are you putting ice in your base? try using room temp water in your base and see if that helps out.
dorafish
so i bought a new made in china baby hookahs and this one gives taste though not as good as the two big ones used to be...beats me whats wrong with my other two tho
mushrat
Ok..so 3 1/2 give soem flavours..still too much heat then. try 1 coal in half or even third/quarters... We are onto something.
NickReppinThe909
your old hookahs are probably just dirty give them a thorough cleaning with some vodka and lemon juice
Wharbone
I always get a ton of flavor out of AF. I use a standard egyptian w/ 2 pieces of exoticas (1/4 of a stick cubes). What flavors are you trying? Some AF flavors are more favorable than others. dorafish
so yea i just went and tried to smell the fresh hookah leaves from the packages and to me...most of them smell pretty tasteless to me....thats talkin about maybe 10 different packets of hookah...can a change of humidity ruin hookah like this? because i just opened two packs of hookah that i havent touched for a long time but had sealed tightly and tried smoking them and the taste was strong like previously
Seanij
wouldnt ruin the tobacco no, but i suggest you put them out in the open for 24 hours and let them acclimate, stir every 3 hours or so if its a juicy tobacco
