aurora61
hey guys. its my first post here, and its also my first time owning a hookah so i need alittle help.I recently bought myself a Mya Qt, and the first time i used it, it smoked GREAT. I frequent hookah bars, so im well aware of what a good amount of smoke should look like. However, the second time i used it, i could hardly get any smoke (smoke was equilvalent of one drag of a cigarette at most). I noticed that when i remove the body from the water jar, the grommet on the water jar will easily come off along with the body (it stayed on the waterjar the first time i used the hookah). Im not sure if this causes an airleak, but i think its possible ...Is there a quick fix?I also wanna add that ive done a good amount of research, so i dont think i packed the bowl wrong, put too much water, etc...Can anyone help me getting my Mya smokin? aurora61
QUOTE (kvtaco17 @ Sep 5 2008, 10:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>does it leak from the grommet?I find it hard to tell...i feel air when i blow into the hose, but since the air valve is so close by, i may be just feeling that air insteadIs there a good way to check for leaks? szemek
I noticed sometimes the grommet can get pushed up in the heart a little. Here's a trick to help out. Put the grommet on the base first. Then put a little hand soap on your fingers and run it around the grommet. then put the stem on; it should slide on very smoothly and not move at all. Not sure if that is the lack of smoke, but if it is that should fix it from moving around.Simon.
agentscot
After you take a few puffs and get the smoke going, unscrew the purge valve and use your finger to make a seal on it, then lightly blow into the hose. Don't blow to hard or you'll shove water up the stem and ruin your shisha. But if you blow a little and you see smoke come out anywhere, then you have a leak.It also could be that your valve isn't working right. I remember my pumpkin had a huge problem with air leaks because the ball bearing in the valve rusted down to where it didn't make a seal. I eventually just duct taped it shut. mushrat
I use qt's at te bar, and both the checking the ball idea, and the base grommet on the base, then slide on the stem ideas are both very good.
