TigerLord
For 2 weeks almost now I always had smoke sessions that disappointed. I finally figured out my problem wasn't my packing or my tobacco. I had never noticed the bottom of my coals went out, and hence why I had a coal taste. Smoke was always plentiful and not harsh, but the taste went from very vanilla to disgusting.I now flip my coals every 2 minutes or so. The flavor has gone up dramatically and I still keep the same dense smoke. Before I would flip them once or twice per hour. Way too little.Do you also flip so often? I now prefer my cocos over my jap easy lites because they last longer. At least that's something!

Johnny_D
I'm sure they have there positives Sean. My main objection was to the chap who seems to think he needs to flip Japanese style coals all the time. There is not 1 perfect coal out there in my Humble Opinion. Each coal has it's Pro's & Con's. And of course each to there own.I just object to fanboi's methodology .Whatever the product JD
mattarios2
It has something to do with the coconut coals not just cocos. I smoke the HC coconut coals now b/c they are way cheaper, you get way more coal, and they burn hotter, but those also turn black after a while so every 10-15 min i flip them. I think it is good in a way, it reminds me to ash and relocate coals so I can burn the bowl evenly. But I def think it is caused by some element of the coconut.
