wurwulf
I'm fairly new to hookah, have been smoking with friends and at lounges for around eight months now. Last week a friend and I went in half and finally bought our own, and we've been smoking it fairly regularly with a group of people on campus. We've had very good luck, but one thing that has eluded us is how to consistently get thick smoke. There are some nights that we get absolutely excellent smoke, but very often it is thin, wispy, and generally weak. What are some pro tips for getting truly epic smoke? I know from experience that putting ice in the vase helps a lot, and poking around here I came across the idea of refrigerating some components of the hookah. We'll definitely be putting those ideas to good use, but if any of you have other tips for getting super-thick smoke, I'd love to hear it. Blowing out huge, dragon-like clouds is a huge part of the appeal of hookah, at least for me, and anything that gets me bigger smoke would be greatly appreciated. Apets22
Ice in the vase makes it smoother, but It doesnt really make it thicker, or atleast Ive never noticed it doing so. Same thing goes for refrigerating the hose.Make sure your heat manegment is good, if your getting thin smoke, throw another coal on. But be forewarned if you end up with too much heat youre going to fry the tobacco. Its really about experimenting. Make sure the bowl isnt packed to tightly, make sure theres a little bit of room between the shisha and the foil/screen.It would probably help all of us to know your set up. Your Hookah, the shisha youre using , and the coals you are using. Some shishas require alotttt of heat, others dont.
hookah hippie
Your smoke density is mostly factored by your heat management and how you pack the bowl be sure to fluff the tobacco into the bowl and put adequate heat to it and you should have good clouds
modisess
heat management and good packing method is all you need. also good quality tobacco and coals. naturals are the best....
TizaNabi
Try adding honey to the shisha. It adds smoke density.

You can get about hookah smoking great with a good bowl/shisha/coal setup. For big clouds, I would suggest AF (Al Fakher) I have always gotten the biggerst clouds with that shisha and either 3 Kings coals, or Naturals like Exoticas and the EasyLite Japs

cartercdad
and where do we get epic at?
Chiefin
don't refridgerate your shisha though. That just dries it out. Like Ryno and modisess said - AF will give you some thunderstorm clouds.
Stuie
I add a few drops of lemon or lime juice to some shisha...HUGE CLOUDS even on weak tobaccos.
liquidglass
I agree with most of what everyone says on this particular threadheat management, good shisha, proper hookah set up (water levels and AIR TIGHT!)My personal recommendation is Tangiers (anything) and Exoticas/coconaras or a very good quicklight brand (starlights for instance)Now given this is just my opinion, but Epic smoke isn't worth it for the clouds or anything I get more from tangiers flavor and smoke wise. AF and Tangiers are top on my list, Just make sure everything is air tight (including the foil around the bowl) and you should be fine.
erufiku
All depends on your heat management... I get thick smoke off of nakhla, with tap water in the base. Also make sure your setup is airtight.
