Collecting Shisha Stats

Recommended Posts

so i could have swore i made this post this morning, but now i cant find it, or i'm an idiot... either way... here it goes again...

i'm forming an excel sheet with the general stats on all the shisha brands... here is what i want to put it in, please tell me if i need to add another category... i

i'm also basing these off of the large consensus of what people think.. i understand one or two will differ here and there, but what i'm looking for should be able to be generally rationalized.

shisha brand
rough cost per 250
how juicy it is
how fine the cut is
overall quality
how long it needs to acclimate
bad/good clouds
weak/strong flavor
bowl it should be smoked from
how many coals/ease of heat management
how long the average session length is
flagship flavor(s)
flavors to stay away from
sites that commonly sell

i'll gladly post it up for share with people. hoping it will make it easier for people to find shisha that fits what it is they are looking for

This is a great idea if you want to spend the time doing it! The categories you got there look pretty good, you just have to come up with a good scale for each category. Maybe you could do something like "points" for each catagory, and adding them up gives a number for the shisha?

good call on the washed, unwashed... i'll add that...

i guess i can assign a point value to cloud thickness, size, taste, session length...

do you think i should include cost in that factor? and should they all be on a 5 point scale? or some on a 5, some on a 10 etc?

Reviews do a pretty good job at setting up this in a way, there are other factors though that could be found with research but whatevs.

For your spreadsheet, I would consult the review area.

+1

Take an average or add all the general statistics and then put out a spreadsheet.

It seems like a good idea but so many factors come into play. For example the type of coals used will change the taste imo and definitely change up heat management. I'm not saying it can't be done but I would think you would have to have different tables for each variable. A lot of time would be spent on making it but I think it would be really nice once done.

If anything I'd suggest just making rankings from 1-10 for everything. Then set it up like

Fantasia Tangiers AF

Heat Management Heat Management Heat Management
2 10 2

and so on with each stat or whatever, even though you aren't saying what coals you use it is giving the user an idea of how hard it is to manage heat with each brand. What I am trying to say is use variables or "stats" that will help the user understand, no matter what you are using, 1 coal brand or another, 1 hose or another, Egyptian hookah or Chinese, mya bowl or phunnel. etc etc.

How fine the cut is? Sometimes I get huge cuts and sometimes I get really fine cuts.
How long it needs to acclimate? Well depending on humidity factors that changes.
How long it smokes? Well that depends on the bowl.

So in my eyes these stats are no good, but stats like saying how tough heat management is good.

well... while coals affect heat management, some shisha is just flat out more tempermental with heat than others...i mostly want to hit on how easy one is to heat manage in general...

also the length of session should work because i included the 'proper bowl' section... so it would be proper heat management with the proper bowl should get you Xtime with Xshisha... make sense?
