How Much?

Hey im just wondering whats the perfect amount of water to fill the glass bottom of the hookah.. my pipe that goes in almost touches the bottom and ive heard about an inch above it.. but it doesn't seem right so im just wondering?

a half inch to an inch. any more is gonna make it harder to hit and it will provide less room for smoke to gather.

If it is extremely low in the base you could fill it up to about 1/2 the way up the vase I have a pipe with an extremely long down stem and that is what I do

Putting that much water in will give you killer drag i would think. My Stem nearly goes to the bottom of the base as well and the most water i put in is about 2 inches but usually closer to 1 inch above the bottom of the stem.

The greatest thing about the downstem almost hitting the bottom of the base it gives you a large area for smoke to enter the base and if you have a wide hose you can get HUGE clouds off of it because it will be easier to get smoke from the hookah. ONly downside is that it takes a while to start it up. However I would probably go with the advice Tiburonsrule and at most go 2 in above the stem if the downstem goes down really low into the base, but 0.5 to 1 in is ideal.
