All Hail Tangiers!

Recommended Posts

So here's the scoop...

I bought some GF esk apple and tried it out. My first smoke, it
honestly tasted terrible. So I decided it had to be something I was
doing because everyone sings the praises of esk apple all the time. So
I decided to try out the ol' tangiers remedy. I sat it out for 2 hrs,
stirred it a few times and then tried to smoke it. I also broke my
3kings up into two pieces as per some mystery man on chat told me.

and now.... It's smoking wonderfully! Great billows of sweet, white
smoke. I now join the ranks of the esk apple lovers and would highly
recommend that everyone try Tangiers' wacky humidity/atmosphere
advice... IT REALLY WORKS!

Not everyone likes every flavor, as I'm not a fan of the AF GS Esk
Apple, but thats just me. Everyone has their own personal tastes to
what they like and don't like. But I'm glad you got things figured out.
Great advice from Tangiers as always.

Pavlakos you don't need a credit card to pay with Paypal!  Hookahcompany and socialsmoke accept Paypal.I had a similar reaction to Esk apple.  After hearing so much about it I was very eager to try it out but I was very disappointed.  I could barely get any flavor and was getting little harsh smoke.  I've ordered a fresh batch of Esk now so we'll try to forget about the previous incident and start over!

My best results have come from using VERY little heat...so I'd
recommend starting out pretty low and building up to it. I also think
part of the problem (that I've been having with shisha in general) is
overfilling the bowl.

so to summarize:

1) not too much
2) low heat
3) Tangiers' approach

Tangiers IMO is one of the finest members here.  He makes his own (damn fine) product, and while he touts it as being good and his favorite of course, he doesnt hijack every thread telling us that.  In fact I have heard him praise other tobaccos.  Plus he was kind enough to send samples to several members here, which is probably a big reason why I have been smoking tangiers exclusively.  I placed my first order at hookahcompany.com last week due to wanting some kashmir.  George is also a great guy, best customer service I have gotten from a vendor yet.His posts are well thought out, and informative.  You can tell he is a guy who knows what he is talking about.  I have learend a lot from reading through his threads By no means am I discounting any other members.  I have gone from knowing nothing about hookah to knowing more than anyone else Ive ever spoken to about the subject in a matter of months.  This forum has been great for me.Hope I didnt come off as too much of a nutswinger there, guys.

hey, i find most tobacco i smoke has a much better flavor via nose hits.  somehow my tastebuds are very selective about what ma'assel they like to pick up on - nakhla is just about totally out of the question unless i've just scoured my hookah clean

Hmm. Thanks guys. Some people wonder what makes me tick.A watchmaker said he had no idea, while a clockmaker said the mainspring was definitely rusted through. My father said to me, as fathers will, "Son, there's nothing in this world you can think that hasn't already been thought. There aren't any ideas that are new anymore."I saw hookahs as a chance to make new theories and come up with ideas that had never been thought of. I hope I can someday live up to the generous praise that you shower on me; I am trying. With support like this, I don't ever have to search for a reason to continue to break new ground. Thank you all, you are all trully great people. I don't want you to think that I was ignoring you, I was open until 7:15 this morning. I am so flat, its not even funny. Thanks to Walter, Tyler, Jason, Adam, Doug and everybody else I can't remember the first name of at 8:00 in the flippin' morning.

Hey am a lil lost around here- "My first smoke, it
honestly tasted terrible. So
I decided to try out the ol' tangiers remedy. I sat it out for 2 hrs,
stirred it a few times and then tried to smoke it."What exactly is the tangiers remedy? I sometimes get that terrible taste even when I know that thats not the way it really is.

Tangiers always suggests letting your tobacco acclimate to your local temperature/humity by opening the container you store it in for a few hours, stirring occasionally so that it can 'adjust'.  He says the humidity shock is a cause of harsh tobacco flavorings.
I still say you should venture to open a lounge around here.  Im so dissatisfied with the lounges in my area.  I have played with the idea of opening one myself, but I would have no idea what I was doing.
If you got the money, I got the consulting services and the tobacco.
