Sinus Infection

Recommended Posts

Being a Biomedical scientist, I would have to tell you to lay off for about 3 to 4 days to give time for recovery and until symptoms fade. If the symptoms persist, then lay off for another few days. Edited by aleemkahn

In simple english, the reason you shouldnt smoke is that smoking will decrease the amount of oxygen u will breathe in. Oxygen is essential for aerobic respiration. When your body is fighting a viral infection, aerobic respiration is increased so that the immunal response is more successful and active. Therefore, if you smoke, you will decrease your chances of fighting the infection, and prolong the period of illness.

Being honest ive smoked through being ill and ive stopped other times, it didnt make too much difference.

the only time it made large difference was after a surgery (few days after) i smoked hookah instead of the strong ass painkillers because i didnt want to get hooked and it really helped me out

He's right.

Your mucosa is fragile and will be sensitive to infections in the upcoming days. Do you have antibiotics?

Stop at least 3 days up to a week if you are for it for maximum safety.

it'll all be worth it.

The other week I had one of my wisdom teeth taken out. Doc said I couldnt smoke for a week. Once the week came and the stitches were out of my mouth it was one of my best sessions. Because the anticipation leading up to the day was so great lol.

im going to have to go with what everyone else has been saying and tell you to lay off smoking for a few days. my last sinus infection ended up getting drawn out by hookah. but that being said you would most likely be fine if you smoked through it, it just might take you a little while longer to get over it.
one thing that you should always stop smoking for is bronchitis and pneumonia. the last 2 times that i got them i smoked through it and it ended up being a 2 week ordeal each.

Personally I've suffered many many sinus infections (until I had my adnoids and tonsils taken out) and you're fine to smoke if you really want to.

However here are a few things to consider:

1) smoke will irritate the infection so it could make it worse the next day or prolong it
2) honestly you might not taste as much flavor as you do without a sinus infection, that in itself is almost enough to stop smoking for a few days so you can get it back

Choice is up to you
