surface
Im using 33mm 3ks, usually make a 10x10 hole pattern, and have AF/Fantasia/Nakhla shisha. For the eygptian bowl I usually just light the whole coal and move it to a new place every 10-15 min. Would I see better results if I broke it in halves and used 2 halves on opposite sides of the bowl and moved those every 10-15 min? Also, I just ordered a tangiers med phunnel. I was planning to use 3 halves of 33mm coals. Would that be too much heat if I rotated them every 20 min? Thanks. Apets22
Well the biggest thing is experimenting. Thats pretty much what I did when I had my egyptian and QLs.I have a small phunnel when I had QLs, I would put two of them on each on a differnt side of the bowl and smoke. If it got to harsh I would move them closer to the edges, If it started to die, I would move the coals closer together and probably light up third coal.EDIT: Oops forgot my main point. With the medium, thats alot of shisha, and I have no experience with it. But I used two full QLs on a small, so three halves seems like to few to me. CMP
On an egyptian bowl, 1 and a half coal seems to make the trick. What I usually do is that I place the whole coal on the middle, and the half is the one that I rotate around the whole one. I get pretty dense, flavourful clouds. I thought I would get a burnt flavour after a while, due to the whole coal staying always in the middle, but it didnt happen in any of the 3 sessions I had.
