Rectifier
Hi guys, I've been a big fan of shisha for awhile, though i don't smoke that often. I was first introduced a few years ago by a college buddy of mine from Egypt who brought a 31" egyptian and tobacco with him when he came. We used to hang out and smoke all the time in school. Now I go down to the hookah bar with my friends every once and awhile, but would really like to own my own. However, I've read and heard from friends (including my Egyptian friend) that it's really hard and expensive to get tobacco in Canada... is this true? And if so, is it actually worth it to own a hookah here instead of smoking in the hookah bars? Anyways, I'm in Vancouver, can anyone recommend a place to buy a hookah and tobacco that's not a total ripoff? I'm looking for a big one like my friend's, since I've smoked out of small hookahs and think they smoke nowhere near as good.
Izzletodasmizzle
well if your in vancouver you can just come on down to seattle (where i live) spend a few days and bring back a new hookah and a ton of shisha
mushrat
That makes the most sense if you ask me. And yes, It's will cost you a small fortune to get the shisha legally in Canada..fortunateky there are other ways.
Rectifier
Thanks guys... how are the prices in Seattle then? Recommended shop, Izzle? I'm looking for Al Fakher in particular. And most importantly, would I have to smuggle the shisha, or could I declare it without getting charged the $50/lb... sheeshabum
Maybe these guys don't live in Canada, so they can't appreciate your problem. To buy the stuff in Seattle might be fine, but getting the stuff in without paying the high tax you guys pay in Canada is another problem. I live in Israel ans shipping to us is expensive. I thought about having shisha tobacco sent to my son who is now in Vancouver, British columbia and have him get it to me when he comes empty. Getting the tobacco in without the tax or if you ship it having it sit long time induty there is a hassle. Where in Canada do you live ? There is a Canadian online company, a friend of mine from Lebanon who owns an online store based in Ottowa,Canada. Abu Dani. He owns and runs Arguily com. http://www.arguily.com/ Abu Dani also has a hookah blog : http://arguily.blogspot.com/ Good luck ,Sheeshabum
jmexx
It's more like 40$ for every box of 250grams. I live in Montreal and I have some ways to get tobacco, feel free to PM me :)Jon
straussstrauss
Im in Toronto, and for me the best way was to use socialsmoke.com because they put "molasses" on customs declaration (not "tobacco") and, I guess, customs guys have no clue what it is, because they dont tax it. So, Im getting two 250gr jars of Gold AF for around 45 Can shipping included. And that was before me knowing that there is 15% off discount with a magic word "hookahforum". ApoC
wtf, it does not cost alot to get it legally here, I buy my shisha and hookah stuff from socialsmoke and hookahcompany, and have ordered from others, no problems! its completely legal to ship over the border as far as i know, and ive never had a single order turned away in customs, even when they have been opened. i also live in vancouver area, by the way. straussstrauss
ApoC, it is legal, just taxes for tobaco are to high. I think customs cant dont know what molasses is. Try to ship smokes across the border into canada and state so in declaration you'll see what I mean by high taxes.
ApoC
hmm yea, luckily socialsmoke labels em as molasses, and i think hookahcompany did the same with my other orders... either way be sure to note to your supplier to label it something non tobacco related
