Halloween!

So Halloween season is here, and now is the time to make plans, costumes, and evil trasformative potions for the big day (or couple of days)!

We love Halloween in my home, my wife was born on this great day (which explains alot) and we have 2 young kiddos, so it's a no-brainer: mostly cuz the zombies ate said brains.

This year I have no idea what I'm going to be but have some plans in the works. In Detroit every year they have a musical version of "Night of the Living Dead" I might be an extra in since the narrator works with me. Zombie extra FTW!

Also I plan on doing a zombie walk in a nearby town. Basically some of you dress like zombies and start at one end of the city, combing across a main road. There are also people scattered throughout the city who are set up to be "victims" and are attacked by the zombies then join in as part of the horde. I haven't done one yet but it sounds so fun and this year might be the year.

Oh and of course we'll be watching the Nightmare Before Christmas ad nauseum from now till Christmas!

Side note - I might be getting a free tattoo from a great artist from Florida in October, just in time for Halloween. The stipulation is that it has to be of a Pokemon smile.gif I was thinking of getting a Pikachu all scrunched up in his thundershock position with blue lightning streaming from his tail down my forearm.

So what are you doing for Halloween this year? Open thread! Favorite costumes, parties, pranks, etc, etc. POST AWAY!

I went through a multi-year phase where I wanted to be Shiek from the Zelda games.

Admittedly, this phase isn't over; more I've just admitted that this will never happen.

Anyone know how to make a good costume of a hookah? Lol.

Alright ninja, I have a costume for you. People might think it it a little irrelevant now, but there has definitely been a resurgence in the Burger King commercials, so I think you should go all out and go as the Burger King. Instead of going around handing out burgers, this time you go around 'reverse pick-pocketing' Haha, that would be awesome!

I'm considering renting a costume from a store 500ft from my apt...the one I am thinking about is the Caterpillar....was thinking of sitting out on my steps dressed up and smoking my hookah, handing out candy.

and you know how people always ask kids "who are you supposed to be?"....I can ask "A who, are you?" tongue.gif

Dude freaks me out to no end. Total win for a scary Halloween costume though! I'd probably run screaming if I saw that thing coming anywhere near me. smile.gif.

Oh, and stay away from my pockets. Lol.

I attend UCSB which touches a quaint little town called Isla Vista. The town of about 1.5 square miles contains 18k+ students and consumes at least 1% of all alcohol in the US on any given weekend. Halloween here is an intense drinking/drunk fest. Every year it attracts 80-100k people that do not attend UCSB. Since this year's Halloween is on a Friday, they are closing off the entire town in preparation for about 150-200k non-locals. IV Halloween is considered the third largest drinking party in the US next to New Years and Marti Gras.

You can guess what I'm gonna be doing for the WEEK leading up to Halloween smile.gif

Yep. Leading his army of mechanical ants on a crusade to kill off those pesky paladins on a WOW server. (note - having never played WOW I assume that Paladin is a usable term since it sounds so dorky)

I've never played WOW in my life lol.

For those silly ones that can't figure it out, it is tradition to stay in a constant drunken haze the entire week of Halloween. It's a great school tradition and I'm so happy I'm here for it smile.gif

I used to be a in a haunted house my sorority put on every year...now I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll dress up as an indian girl smoking a hookah. Shiny beads and everything.

This was me...yes, I did my own makeup. No costume shown here.

Well, plans have changed a bit wink.gif

Since my wife's birthday is the 31st, and that's a Friday, on Thursday the local funky 80's club (not the old people kind) is having a Rocky Horror picture show night, so we'll be going and having her birthday party there. No Musical for me, I'll have to keep to the Zombie Walk and let that suffice.

And yes I'm planning on going in partial drag. Fishnets, bike shorts, and makeup baby. Don't judge me! You don't knoooow me! smile.gif

Oh, and predictably the Pokemon tattoo was nixed by the wifey, which is fair enough since I'd probably have to turn my face if I saw a Tazmanian devil on her while doin it. Apparently japanese electric mice are not sexy. Edited by giant ninja robot

Im a huge fan of Halloween. Ive been a part of a Haunted Hay Ride for the past 5 years and had a Haunted house/porch 5 years before that. Ive been going to Six Flags Fright Fest since I was 8 [12 years] and applied for both Knots Scary Farm and Fright Fest but live too far to work there. But this year I will be doing the Hay Ride and Kreepsville Ind. Haunted House in Van Nyes, CA. Also I watch horror movies all month/year long.

My porch at age 10.

My GF and I goin to the Hay Ride!

Last year for the Hay Ride!

2 years ago for the party.

Last year for the party I was the Sweedish Chef from the Muppets. This year I want to do make-up with fake teeth and contacts.

This Halloween will hopefully be a real blast for me and my friends.
We have plans to go see Nine Inch Nails in concert in Nashville that night biggrin.gif

BUT! My friend Taylor and I can only go if our friend Matt's parents (who, from what I heard, really wanted to go as well) take us there.

So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they can take us smile.gif It would be so epic to go to a NIN concert on Halloween biggrin.gif

EDIT: I found out yesterday from Matt that his parents are taking us. So it is official now: my Halloween will consist of screaming my lungs out at a NIN concert. Let the jealousy commence smile.gif Edited by AntiGravity

Speaking of Halloween concerts, I really wanna go to see Underoath since they're playing in Detroit on Halloween night, but once again it's my wifes birthday so no go. That would be a damn cool show to see on that particular night though.

Still haven't come up with a costume for me yet, but we're going traditional for the kids, the oldest is going as a pirate and the youngest is an Indian (native American for the politically correct).

Almost forgot what Autumn aka Halloween season means....APPLE PICKING!!!! Nothin is better in fall than taking a hayride out to pick apples and climb trees then coming back to the mill to eat lotsa hot homemade donuts and fresh cider, with a caramel apple for good measure.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN CONCERTS smile.gif I had the pleasure of seeing A Perfect Circle on Halloween a few years ago. The whole band was dressed up for the show with Maynard in a clown costume and all the rest of them dressed up as famous movie girls like Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, etc. Best concert I;ve ever seen in my entire life...

i'm going as hillary clinton

That is AWESOME. Please dont buy a mask and just get the wig, pantsuit, and bad makeup. Yay!

So I'm thinking maybe Pikachu? Since I won't be getting the tattoo. If you image search Pikachu you get a ton of Japanese kids who made Pikachu costumes out of yellow hoodies and extra fabric. And IMO a 6'3" Pikachu would be pretty damn funny.

Argh! Decisions decisions!

The kids hate my house, cause year round I keep a giant bowl of peppermints from restaurants at my house, OCD habit. That's what the kiddies get at Halloween! But every year my wife puts candy in my bowl...but they still get peppermints!
