srawas89
From what I hear they do not do much but keep the smoke from getting hot, it will not cool it down tho, if you are looking for a cool smoke just ice in the base will work.

bjelder
Its supposed to increase your smoke volume, but a lot of people says it just increases the smoothness and easiness of the pull. I have a tri-metal and my stem never gets that hot anyway...Bottom line, I sure don't think it HURTS anything, and I'm sure its gotta help a little bit, so why not? If you like the looks, go for it. erufiku
QUOTE (Canon @ Sep 28 2008, 11:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>from my experience they are uselessYeah, but they look nice I've actually put cold water+ice in mine a few times but there was no real difference so I don't bother anymore. A big pipe won't get hot anyway.
joytron
buy a km depending on what you like. personally the ice bucket looks way better in real life than it does in pictures. If you think it works for you, great use it. I dont think it makes a difference so i dont deal with the hassle.
racemyghost
First off, i think the Traditional ICE kms are the best looking and performing kms.second, the ice bucket makes a difference. I was smoking in my backyard when it was 100+ degF. I put NO ice in the vase and just filled up the ice bucket with ice. The smoke was cool. Pulling in hot 100+ air and running it through a chilled metal pipe, it made a pretty big difference. SmokinMoose
I think it makes a slight difference but its best to use when smoking when its hot out. I always fill up my Ice Bucket. In the winter I probably wont.
Extra Mint
i have tried putting ice in the bottom a few times but it always makes the smoke strong and stings my throat when i pull it.

freezerburn456
No joke...they are pretty much useless. I have a KM w/ ice bucket and I use the bucket as an ash holder most of the time. When I smoke for 7-8 hours I generally end up emptying the tray 2 times. In that aspect the ice bucket is worth the money because it improves my ability to be lazy. lol
Glassjaw
On a similar note, anyone here ever try taking a 5 gallon bucket (Or one that will fit your hookah), setting the hookah inside of it, and then filling it with ice? I find it makes the smooth much colder.

The logic seems pretty sound. The only thing is that I like the ice in to base to act as a diffuser and quiet things down during a movie.
Chiefin
One of my hookahs is a 38" syrian with an ice bucket. In addition to looking stellar - it probably doesn't add much value. I notice that my vase is typically filled completely with smoke throughout my entire session. I love that hookah though...it's my "special occasion" hookah.
