jokeymaster
Hey fellas, I know a lotta you add ice to the base along with water (or any other liquid) to cool down the smoke. I was wondering has anyone tried adding a little water to the base then placing it in the freezer and once the water freezes add water to that and smoke it..The only reason i ask this is because i have a small hookah and always have a hard time jamming ice in the base. So i was thinking wat if I just add water to the base place it in the freezer to let it ice and then say in an hour or 2 pull is out let is sit out for say 10 min or so in order to get the base almost to room temp and then start smoking..has anyone tried this or think this would work? Apets22
Water expands when you freeze it. Im just saying, I dont think it would be a problem, but it could be.Otherwise i dont see why not.
Enjoivolcom
Yeah man it works but you just cant leave it in the freezer for to long or the glass may break, keep it in the freezer until the top layer of the water freezes then take it out and you should be good. srawas89
Do not even think about putting water in your vase and than putting it in the freezer....it will break 95% of the time. If you have a hard time getting ice into your base keep water in the fridge to cool it down and/or use crushed ice instead of the cubes.
freezerburn456
There are a few flaws that I can see in that.1. If you freeze the base solid full of water how would you be able to pull through the ice? You would have to only partially fill the base, freeze it, then fill the rest with water. And even that wouldnt work too well because you would have to have the ice level well below the bottom of the downstem.2. If you freeze water in a base it will expand and it will crack/break the base. If you have a base you dont care about try it in that. If it doesnt break the first time it will eventually break.A way to make your own crushed ice that will easily fit into a small base is to put it in a bag and beat the hell out of it. staygone
Add a little bit of salt to the water, then you can freeze it all you want without the base liquid solidifying. Could potentially be bad for the downstem though due to corrosion issues.-QM

staygone
Taste smaste, maybe some sugar to the water? Vinegar? Baking soda? The last two at the same time seems legit.I like my water room temp actually.-QM Edited September 29, 2008 by QuiltedMaple
EternalSoil
put it in the freezer sideways, lay it down and dont put much in there.
Codename067
What are you guys talking about?I did this for sooooooooooo long during the HOT summer days..using Egyptian/Syrian bases...not a single crack, let alone a break.Fill up 1/4 of the base and let it just expand upwards. You SHOULD not have problems.
staygone
We were talking about adding various items to the water so that it wouldn't freeze when put in the freezer.I still like the idea of adding baking soda and vinegar to your base then freezing it.-QM Edited September 29, 2008 by QuiltedMaple
