So, I'm looking for a good, cheap starter road bike. Bicycle for those who aren't aware.

I need some recommendations. My price range is preferably around 400.

A local bike shop carries the Fuji Newest 3.0 for $460. Great price considering its MSRP is $750. I'm looking for some more recommendations. Anyone have any?

I'm not a serious rider, but I do love my english racers that I've picked up at good will stores, and garage sales... one I even found in the garbage. Get them, put on new tires, maybe replace a gear/pedal, grease it up and you've got a good bike for next to nothing.

I would definitely recommend a hybrid/commuter bike. Fast on the road, like a street bike, but also good for gravel/smoothish paths. I've probably put about 1500km on my Kona Dew since I got it last March, and took it down some fairly crazy forest trekking paths without any problems. Best bike I've ever owned, and I've gone through a fair number.

I got a Specialized Allez From a buddies dad's buddy for cheap. I think the best bet would be gaia's selection or grabbing one second hand. Alot of people grab killer bikes, don't use them, then sell cheap. Or they have a shit ton of bikes and sell cheap.

I don't like hybrids with flat handle bars all that much really, it was never something I liked. Impressive bike though.

I've had awful experiences with second hand bikes but I might be able to get something nice from an experienced, hardcore rider (my buddy's dad). That way I know that its upkeep has been great.
