New Hc Coconut Coals

Okay, I decided to try these new coconut shell coals I saw on Hookah Company (non-banned vendor). What interested me was the very same coal comes in two forms: Natural and Insta-light. Insta-light coconut coals? You know I had to try them.... So here's the low down.....


The box says: (Banned Vendor) Coconut Premium Hookah Coals - Eco-friendly - No smell, No smoke, No taste. Ready to use in under 1 minute. The box says a whole lot more but that's the general drift. So..........

First off.... Hate the name, really REALLY hate the name. For obvious reasons. They come bulk packed in a box of perfectly cut squares. Like the bulk package because I don't need the added foil around with cats who tend to chew on things like that. I pack a bowl of AF Vanilla since that's my go to smoke right now. I know how it should taste, smell, etc. when the heat management is perfect. And I grab one coal from the box and take it into the bathroom to light it over the tub under a window which is where I always light my coals.

Box says no spark. Nope, don't you believe it. Sparks and completely ignites. I find myself holding a flaming cube in tongs
Box says no odor. Only odor I could detect was typical light campfire smell. No chemical smell at all.
Box says ready to use in under one minutes. Jesus, it was ready by the time I walked it 15 feet from the bathtub to the hookah. No kidding, completely red and gray on the outside.
Box says no taste. Can't taste a damn thing but my vanilla tobacco. Not a whiff of anything else. Even 3 Kings and Goldens have some flavor added to your smoke.
Box says burn hotter. Not really. I would say a little closer to a natural which means you can use them more like naturals where you use two or three per bowl rather than the normal super hot insta-lights that tend to burn the top and leave everything moist under the singed layer.
Smoke is nice and thick and flavorful, so the heat is perfect.
Lasts somewhere between the natural (depending on brand) and a 3 Kings. Closer to a natural I would say.

Overall? Best damn coals overall I've ever used. I'm ordering three more boxes on Friday. The ease of insta-light with the smoke of a coco. Now if they would only change the name......

Bought a box of these and i have to say, they are the best insta light coals on the market!

Get a bic lighter, light a little corner and in a few seconds the whole cube is a burning inferno! Make sure your outside or in a very well ventilated area, lots of fire and some smoke. They def last longer than other insta-lights, at least an hour. I like to put 3 on my small/medium phunnel, seems to work out just right. I would also suggest trying the natural version, just like coco naros!

TOM is right, just change the name and what not in the OG Post, don't specifically say the name of the vendor.

I'm talking about the coals, not the vendor. Where I got them is irrevelant in these circumstances. And I wasn't aware HC was banned. I see them mentioned all over the place.

It's really too bad a compromise between John and the higher-ups couldn't come up with a compromise. He really does run a quality operation and really gives a damn about what he's doing.

HC isn't banned, the name of the coals is the same name as the vendor that is banned.

This brings up a point that we likely need a pinned banned vendor list...... Then those of us who aren't posting quite so often for whatever reasons, will know not to mention that particular vendor.

EDIT: But the coals are still the best I've ever used.

But on topic, speaking of HC, HC coconut coals are amazing, all you have to do is put a knife over the score and push down lightly and they crack perfectly. Last long, give off tons of heat, and are only 10 bucks for like 160 coals or something crazy like that, damn good bang for your buck if you ask me.

How many come in the box? Does it say on the box possibly?

Here's the thing..... What do I need to edit? The name of the coals? How can you review something without it's name? And why are we banning manufacturers? I would assume they wouldn't be allowed to post - and I totally agree with that. But banning the product of any manufacturer would a damned shame because it would come across as vindictive and an overt attempt to put them out of business. Sure that's not what this forum was created for?????

EDIT: Eric is a manufacturer and I don't believe he's banned for not posting because he's too busy creating new shisha for us all?

Again, The only reason its banned is the name. A harsh punishment for such a trivial thing considering it took months for neal to be banned after he became less than reputable.

The name definitely sucks. Really sucks big time. No doubt. However what happens if a certain NHT starts calling itself Hookah, or Pipe or Xerox? Will we ban those words as well?

I am not sure boho, as already stated I know they are banned for the name, sooo ... maybe wait until a mod posts? or ask them about it? I'm sure since you are trying to fix the problem you aren't going to get in trouble, I think there just needs to be some clarification.

I vote wait on the mods for what to do and how it will be solved for review etc.

HOWEVER, notice I did remove the name. Believe me, the name doesn't please me either. Not even a little bit. They're in Fountain Valley, California. Why don't we all just contact them and ask them to please change it? For the obvious reason? If they want to continue to sell their product, they will listen to their customers.

Not fair Nick. They were trying to help on something I wasn't aware of when I posted. On occasions a thread jack has value. I believe this one does and I'm grateful to everyone for the discussion.

it didnt have to turn into a discussion about vendors though, and i thank the people who told you they were a banned vendor and helped clarify. but banned vendors will stay banned for their own reasons until they change what needs to be changed so lets keep this a coal thread and not a vendor thread.

Says 1 kg only on the box but HC has the count on their product info. I believe it's 84 but check to be certain.

Ah i expanded the info and found it, it's 132 for natural and uhh 108 for instant.

I believe there's 108 in the insta lites and like 114 to 124 in the naturals.
They are smecking good coals. I just made up a word btw.

So do what some other "outside the US" members do. Order online, have it shipped to a US member who reships to you as a gift. You just reimburse the shipping from that member. Or add enough of whatever they want to your order to reimburse them for what they're going to spend shipping to you.
