ColibriDon
Hey guys, I got a 27" KM Malak from Hookahcompany back in early August and it smoked like a dream. I loved it. However, about 3 weeks ago, I purchased a 30" Nour from from Hookah Company which I smoked for maybe a 3-4 days straight before I decided to go with my KM as my daily smoker. Well, I think I offended the KM gods because right when I lit it up, it was giving me very little smoke (Nothing like the clouds I used to get from it). I figured this was just a bad bowl on my part and dismissed it and gave up the session. I then went back to my nour, fantastic smoking everytime and had left my KM for about 2 weeks smokeless...until last night. I tried to smoke a bowl out of it and I got the same damn thing, little smoke. It's like I have to pull hard to get even a little smoke. Just to isolate the problem to my KM, I set up my QT right next to it, and just moved the bowl, coals, and hose over onto it. And the QT smoked wonderfully. What the hell is going on? I've checked all of the welds, the stem gasket is still good and everything. What's going on? If it helps, I had to purge it last night and it was really hard for the first 5 seconds but then it just purged like normal. Thanks for any ideas you guys can give me. P.S. One of my friends had an idea to submerge it in water, blow through it, and see if I could see any leaks. Kind of like what you do to find a hole in a tire. Would this work? AKammenzind
Sounds like you might have something blocking your hose. Are you using diff. hoses for all the hookahs?
Capt. Morgan
Hate to ask the obvious question but do you clean it? That would probably help.
ColibriDon
AK, I am using the same KM hose for all of my hookahs. Capt, Yeah I clean it after every use. Just checked down the stem and it's not obstructed or anything.

Apets22
Uhmm...Maybe the ball in your purge is rusted making it difficult to purge? I dont know how this would effect the smoke, but its just a thought...

Not blocking the purge OUT. Same tobacco, same BOWL on each hookah?

Zinite
I've cleaned mine with baking soda before, and didn't wash all of baking soda out. It clogged up the hose port pretty well, and without noticing it, I set the hookah up only to find that I was getting almost no smoke. Take a pipe cleaner and double check that your hose port isn't blocked.
NickReppinThe909
are you using too much water ???
indian_villager
If you are having a hard pull check the purge valve make sure it is not stuck to the top of the little hat thing letting in air. Also check your hoseport to see if it is obstructed. And lastly your water really shouldn't be more than an inch above your downstem!
Raziel510
I definitely suspect an air leak. Like the poster above me said, check your purge valve and make sure that the ball bearing has gone back into the port and sealed properly. If it hasn't then that could explain why your getting such little smoke. If it isn't the purge valve then check your hookah for air leaks by taking your bowl off the stem, block the top of it with your thumb, and then try to breathe in through your hose. If you can still breathe through your hose, try and listen to where the air leaking in from.
ColibriDon
Wow, thanks for all the responses! Mush, thanks for clarifying that the cleanliness of my hookah was a non-factor in how it smoked. Regardless, they are all clean enough to eat off of. I think I fixed it. I cleaned the purge valve but that didn't make much of a difference so I tried fiddling with how my hose was fitting into the port. Turns out, that may have been the problem. I swapped out to one of the spare grommets I had around and it seems to have made a difference. I'm getting ready to try out a bowl in it to see if that can help. I'll keep ya'll updated. ColibriDon
Ok, so, turns out that was it. The hose gasket had gotten all squished somehow and it wasn't allowing for a proper seal.Smoking some AF Cinnamon (Not my favorite but it tastes better knowing my poor KM is alright) And it's smoking great. Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it.
Anxiety
i had this problem with my km, at the top of the stem there are 2 holes in every KM what was happing to me was some sort of tape came unraveld and semi coverd those 2 holes letting less air to the chamber, once i moved the tape out of the way she started hitting like a champ again
mushrat
yay..we all win! Glad you got it working again. It's always the little crap you don't think of that causes the problems. I have a 2 hose generic egyptian , when i smoked it with a buddy he said he couldnt get a decent hit. So I tried it and sure enough...took hme a while to turn it over and realize there was metal slurry partially blocking part in the hole for his hose...a nial a 10 seconds later and it was good as new. Click
Each time you set up your hookah just get into the habit of plugging your finger over where you place the bowl and try to take a drag from the hose. You should not be able to inhale any air meaning that there are no leaks.
