surfpico
Ok, another stupid question - since my Water + Beer topic really shot me down...I bought Romann Natural Lemonwood coals...How do they burn? Do they smell bad or not smell at all???Thanks everyone.
methodical13
I have them, but I only use them when I'm out of quick lites. They're dirty as hell and I noticed it takes a pretty big chunk to get a thick pull, which is how I like it. They don't smell like anything and they burn well as long as you use enough. They last longer than the quicklites.
dunhillsharp
With natural coal lumps, i found that it is best to smoke with two medium pieces. If you use one large, your hookah smokes like crap, if you use abunch of small, it can burn too hot and go out fast. Of course you only get, or are able to cut so many good size pieces from a bag and have alot of little bits left over... this is why i am getting some nour charcoal fingers, im sick of choping coals with a meat cleaver
Sonthert
That may be a good thing. I keep meaning to research the optimal temperature for charcoal to burn to minimize carbon monoxide production. Cooler burning charcoal may give off less carbon monoxide.
