Zinite
I have a Medium Phunnel that I bought from MNH a month or two ago. Last week I ordered a Small Phunnel from a different vendor. The first thing I noticed was that the size of the actual bowl seemed to be the exact same. The Small Phunnel is about an inch shorter than my Medium.I decided to test the volume of both of them. I filled the Medium Phunnel with salt, then took that amount of salt and poured it into the Small Phunnel. All of the salt fit, meaning that the size of the physical bowl is the exact same. I thought the purpose of having small/medium/large phunnels was to vary the amount of shisha that you would be using per session. Was I wrong? And before someone asks, yes, they are both real Tangiers Phunnels (the bottom, untreated part of both bowls is rough- compared to fake Chinese bowls being smooth.) AzZ
My understanding is that all the Funnel bowls are hand made so no two are the same. However realistically there should be some relation to the bowl size and the size stated.

But, for there to be no difference in volume isn't 'hand made' - it's poor quality control and/or a misrepresentation of the product. The only other thing I can think of is that they are both the same size, and MNH or the other vendor sent me the wrong bowl. Can anyone with both a small and a medium judge the size from the pictures? Edited October 11, 2008 by Zinite
indian_villager
Tangiers sells em like intel sells processors. Each one is different in its ability. There a a bunch that are similar in size so they label it as the same thing and sell em! THe small from some vendors is like the medium at others. Can anyone with both a small and a medium judge the size from the pictures?you view of what is acceptable (like what im seeing from a lot of the people in the hookah community) is vastly skewed.a chip i would be pissed, hand make does not mean more defects it should mean the exact opposite. where as to the size, i still would expect it to be more correct but since these are probably thrown on a wheel getting a perfect size is a little harder, no where near as hard as with glass but still not 100% exact.not trying to be rude to you but im just getting really tired of this expectation that hand made means corrosion/discoloration on stems is ok, damaged items are ok since it was hand made, no its hand made means if some one didnt notice they messed up then they suck, even in mass production -matt
hookah hippie
some vendors label their smalls as mediums and some the other way around there are clear differences between small medium and larges you should call vendors and ask them to measure the diameter before ordering so you don't get the same size
Zinite
Can anyone with a Medium and Small Phunnel take a picture of them together for me?Thanks
SimplexCoda
Well MNH gets their phunnel size info direct from the man himself, other vendors sometimes just call them what they want to.
Bulldog_916
Perhaps its just a perception issue. You should just look at your medium as your small and your small as your medium. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, pink lemonade to be exact.
