Layering of foil

Recommended Posts

hey all...i know that there have been many posts on the burning of the tobacco and wat to do to fix this problem and i also know the usefullness of the search engine on this sight....but i was wondering do u think that if i was to layer the foil over my bowl (which i havent over packed i might add) say with three layers of foil instead of just one i might not burn the tobacco on the top and get a cleaner smoke due to smoldering of the glycerin and honey and molasses instead of burning it...?????? any thoughts or suggestions or techniques?

Completely unnecessary. For pretty much the majority of people who
smoke, no one needs to use three pieces of foil to get a good smoke
without burning the tobacco. Sure its been brought up in the past, but
its just a waste.

Now I don't know this to be true, seeing as how I've never layerd more
than once piece of foil when smoking, but it seems like using more than
once piece would conduct a lot of heat, and possible burn your tobacco
even worse than before. Sort of similar to using a metal screen instead
of foil. Like I said, this is just theory, I have no idea if this is
true, it just comes into my head as a possibility.

Go ahead and give it a shot. If it works better for you, then rock it,
and if not, oh well you just wasted one bowl. Not a big deal.

well from my thinking it seems that with just one layer of foil the coal is right on top of the massell i was thinking that if i put more than one layer of foil it would provide a sufficient amount of heat to the bowl but yet keep the coal from being right on top of the tobacco like with a screen and keep it form burning just heat it throughout and give a good thick smoke.

work on how you poke your wholes, either to allow more air around the outside of the coal and the bowl, or simply move your coal according to how much heat you need. i have never had any problem keeping shisha from burning simply by adjusting the coal or the hole pattern.

i tried it, and found that it was harder to get going, and it went out more easily, and there was perhaps a somewhat higher tendency to get weak harsh smoke.  i can't say if that's true or not though, because i ran out of filtered water for the vase (and my tap water tends to make for very harsh smokes)

I don't see a point to it. If you don't know how to prepare your bowl and the tobacco burns, then you should practice preparing the bowl properly before doing something drastic like that. It's meant to be 1 foil for a reason, because it works. If you do try it, though, let us know what it does.Jon

as i previously stated i think my knowledge on packing a bowl properly and management of heat are good enough at this point to where thats not the problem....if anything id say my hookah is "inconsistent" because i seem to keep my set up consistent but the smoke itself isnt always......mayb its time for a new hookah? such as the nemesis?
