Mostly Arabic/Iranian music, because I like the music and I don't know what they are saying so I'm not thinking about it so much. Otherwise Cypress Hill, Bob Marley, Stephen Marley, Moss Def, Dido, Norah Jones, The Fugees. Funny enough the sound track to the film Juno ain't so bad. It's country/folk rubbish, but it's alright for a laugh. Edited by elzaeed

Normally, almost all metal. Soilwork, Lamb of God, Slayer, Pantera, In Flames, Scar Symmetry, Static-X, Mastodon, amongst others. Generally, if I get to pick the music while smoking, it's more diversified, some metal, but most of my music is slower and smoother. Here's my playlist (genres are for demonstrative purposes. If you disagree with a song/band's genre, then whatever):

Clutch - The Elephant Riders (stoner rock/metal)
The Doors f/ Snoop Dogg - Riders on the Storm (Classic rock/rap)
Miles Davis - The Doo Bop Song (Smooth jazz/rap)
Bad Religion - Whisper in time (punk)
Black Label Society - Concrete Jungle (metal)
The Clash - Rock the Casbah (punk)
Gorillaz - Feel good, inc (alternative)
In Flames - Whoracle (metal/acoustic)
Jurassic 5 - What's golden (rap)
Mastodon - Colony of Birchmen (metal)
Megaherz - Gold (metal/industrial)
Mephisto Odyssey f/ Angelcat - I breathe you (techno)
Monster Magnet - Look to your orb for the warning (hard rock)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside (Modern rock)
REM - Texarkana (alternative)
Soilwork - As we speak (metal)
Static-X - December (metal)
Tyr - Torsteins Kvaedi (folk metal)

this is my favorite subject, I'm a musician (as a hobby, I'm not all that commited anymore, but still have fun jamming), but being that the person who originally posted this subject seemed to be interested in finding new music to listen too, I'm going to stick with the things that you might not have heard of.

metal: Acid Bath-circa 1995 New Orleans, a band that comes a crossed as having mixed intentions of music, the first part is good metal, if I had to make a breed comparison, I would say Alice In Chains meets Pantera, check out songs like "Finger Painting of the Insane", and "Dr. Suess is Dead". another side of the band is more like accoustic doom metal, more of a low feel, check out the song "Dead Girl". the other part bring the afore mentioned sides together, the song "Scream of the Butterfly" is what hooked me on this band.
40 Below Summer-Nu Metal from around 2001 to 2007, they had an exceptional tallent at midsong breaks, and building the song back up after them, Nothing to above average about them, but good solid Nu Metal. Check out songs like :"drown", "suck it Up", and "I'm Still Bleeding"
Mushroomhead-I love this band, they claim that Slipknot stole their sound, which could be an accurate accusation. Mushroomhead has done a very good job at writing lyrics, often talking directly to God or Humanity, but it's not in the form of anger, so much as it comes out as just frustration of the state of the world (just my interpretation). check out songs lie "Bwomp", "Before I die", and "just pretending"

Rap and Hip-hop: Sage Francis- Very talented, part of Anticon, and I have fully enjoyed every album I have got from Him, I did not like hip-hop untill I listened to him, he will make you feel something, as he talks about issues such as his ex, death of his father, God, and Death. check out songs like "Civil Disobediance", "The Buzz Kill" and "Agony In Her Body"
Aesop Rock-if you don't like your job, listen to "9-5er's Anthem", the way he words things will keep you listening
Themselves- Dose One and Jel, very abstract hiphop, if nothing else, worth hearing once, Dose has the most unique voice in music that I have heard yet.
check out my own project while your at it, leave some feedback if you like http://www.myspace.com/hurtingyourbabies

First and foremost, my musical heart lies with metal; specifically European metal, e.g. Children of Bodom, Ensiferum, Norther, Nightwish (sometimes), Equilibrium, Soilwork, and last but certainly not least, Dimmu Borgir. Aside from these, an odd mixture of songs/albums from the Righteous Brothers, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, a few various oldies like Otis Redding, The Temptations, etc.

I feel obligated to add that listening to certain Dimmu Borgir songs while on a good hookah buzz is really intense. Some of their music (especially from the Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and Spiritual Black Dimensions albums) is very dreamy, supernatural. Like being awake but in a nightmare at the same time; an effect which is amplified on hookah tongue.gif

I have a really wide variety I listen to many of you probably wouldn't like. Here goes....Rock, Alternative, Acoustic, Rap, Hip-hop, Reggae, R&B, Country, some Metal, some Punk, some Soul & Jazz, some Classic, some Electronic, some Hawaiian, some pop and many more but you get the gist of most of it.

I grew up listening to a lot of 80's rock, a lot of MJ, 90's rock. I love the band Linkin Park and I just am really easy going with my music. If you bring it up, and I listen, I will probably like it. I don't really dance to music either unless I'm drunk.

Music I probably listen to at least 50% of my day. On the PC, right now, on the go with the Ipod, in the car, etc. It is one of my cures for depression, its what works so I take it, and wouldn't live without it.
