Protocol For Multi-hosehookahs

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been away from the world of Shisha for a while and have just returned to the fold. I ordered a 3 hose Egyptiam shisha, (my first multihose shisha, I've never even used one before) and am wondering what the protocol is for using one. I know when one is not using a hose it is considered polite to cover it with your thumb but that is all.

Can multiple people smoke (inhale) at once or do you have to take it in turns? If people inhale simultaneously isn't there a risk of water entering the hoses? Any other tips, practical or etiquette based would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

My first hookah was a cheap three hose. It came with bearings in it so there was no need to cover the hose while not smoking. And as far as people draging at the same time, it was never a big deal. Im sure it may take a little smoke volume away but i wouldnt worry about it to much.

Edit: If yours doesnt come with bearings dont ever blow in your hose when other people are draging. Fairly obvious but some people find it rather funny to do. Edited by Tiburonsrule

my cheap no name 2 hose pumpkin is a 2 hose. as far as multiple people taking a hit, we dont do it. the draw from one of the hoses will get really hard, and you will get little to no smoke at all. but i dont have to plug the other hose while the other person is taking a hit.

I recommend purchasing a hookah with ball-bearings on each hose. You should also purchase the plastic snap-on caps, for use on the extra hoses, when you have more hoses that users. It is perfectly permissible to place your thumb on your own hose, when not pulling. I went to a hookah lounge, and shared a hookah with another person. The hookah did not have the auto-seal bearings, and it was a hassle to smoke. I am not going back to that lounge again.
