Cool Smoke

So I'm buying my first hookah and I want to have the coolest draw I can.

I thought the smoke was cooled by the water so looked for one with a large water tank. I am beginning to glean that it's the height of the pipe that cools the smoke. Which is it? or is it both? I see heights from 10" - 19" - 24" - 30" - 36". How high does the pipe have to be to make the smoke cool? how big the water tank?

I'm using a 14 in (is that how tall the QT is?), and I don't have any problems. As long as you don't burn the tobacco, any height should work fine. Just make sure the stem is submerged ~1 inch into the water, and you should have no problems at all. Edited October 20, 2008 by Hojo

Get a KM and your smoke will be col and smoth all da time!!!
i think the smallest KM is like 24" so they are decent sized no matter which one you get

Cold water in base, some people add ice too. Heard of people putting the stem in the fridge. A Long hose helps too. The taller the pipe is, the longer the smoke has to cool before you inhale it. Edited October 20, 2008 by Capt. Morgan

Easiest thing would be add a little bit of mint shisha! It adds that cooling sensation. If you just want really cold smoke you will be sacrificing flavor!

get a chamber zakiy or a Parad-ice as Codename calls it....its tall....and its called a vase not a water tank....we are not in russia my friend....and vase size doesnt really matter.....go khalil mamoon ftw

I have a few different sized Hookahs ranging from 10"-27" and what i do is put ice cubes in the base if im looking for cold smoke. they all seem to have "cold smoke" but i guess my taller ones are a little more chilled. Really though your not smoking hookah in an attempt to get the coldest smoke. To cold and you will loose flavor like stated above. Some times im just to lazy to put ice in so i just use water and it still isnt even close to hot like cigs are.
