Magnetic Hoses

Recommended Posts

My cat jumped on my hose last night and burn all the way through my rug, luckily the carpet underneath is ok. I was thinking about ways to protect against this, and thought about the charger on my macbook pro. It is magnetic so if it is tripped on, or yanked it will simply unplug instead of pulling the laptop from the table. This would be amazing if this could be adapted to a hookah. Normally I would try to make this myself, but I am way to busy right now so I'm sending this idea to the knowlage of the HF.

SEEMS like a good idea lol but it could be leaky and you would need a damn strong magnet to hold a km hose on the hookah so it would wtill probably tip over

Just a simple O-ring should handle the leak issue

To get a good seal you would need strong magnets......so if the hose is tugged the damn thing will still fall. I suggest investing in one of those wide genie or syrian bases.....Those look like they are hard to tip!

Probably better to focus on how to keep the hookah/base itself from tipping, rather than magnetic hoses, with magnets so strong that are needed, they wouldn't detach anyway. Create a custom end table with a hole type cutout in it, that you can slide and set down your entire hookah base into.

good idea, that magnetic power has saved my MBP a few times, only thing i am worried about with this idea is like what has been brought up of how strong they need to be so they dont fall off or leak yet break away when pulled. the MB and MBP chargers can do it since the machine is so heavy compared to the charger. it probably is more effective/cheaper/easier to accomplish the same thing.

its a very logical idea just not sure how well it will work in this application but i had an idea while writing this, what about hoses that stretch, that may help, but it could also make it pull over more easily, idk

What about making a tri-pod for your base to sit on, then have a bear-trap like mechanism that comes up and locks around the base neck. The problem with varying base necks could be solved by having a rubber fastening strap on the trap mechanism.

Effectively, you're making your base about 3 times as wide. Edited by Bulldog_916

The magnet on my MBP is strong enough to make a perfect seal with an O ring I dunno what you guys are talking about. There is no need for rare earth magnets that aren't going to detach. Who said it needs to be a magnet anyway it can be something like what they had on the original xbox controllers,

Just get Steve Jobs t make it. smile.gif

we all talk about how hookahs cannot be pushed farther really but if apple made hookahs we would have auto purge/ coal rotation, and well i cant even think of what they would do but we would all go "o ya, thats great"

Your cat was on fire?!?! wink.gif

Haha... I know i reread it before i posted... mellow.gif
He jumped on the hose, tipping the hookah, 2 cocos fell onto the carpet (that i specifically put there in case this were to happen) tongue.gif

I think that the cat might have gotten burnt. He ran into the other room for a long time and when he came back my girlfriend petted him and said it felt like his hair had gotten singed.
