mattarios2 Posted October 23, 2008 Share Posted October 23, 2008 So I am in class today, and I get a phone call from a weird ass number. I step out of class and answer. And it is the fairhaven alarm company calling me to tell me our house alarm has been sounded. So I'm thinkin oh shit, I grab my stuff and leave class ... as I'm running to my car I get a call from my brother telling me that he accidentally sounded the alarm and waited for fairhaven alarm to call (they call to make sure it was a mistake and for verification purposes) and he said they never called and he had 2 leave to go to work. And I guess when my bro left he didnt slam the door, so the wind blew the door wide open. So when they call and no1 answers they send the police. So it is the polices obligation to search the entire house and they walk right in to make sure no robber is in the house ...Well guess what they saw all my hookah shit in the basement and freaked. They called the police station so they could give the police the information to contact the owners of the house (my parents) and my mom got a call while she was at the gym. The police officer said "do you realize what you have in your basement? This is obsurd, it looks like a drug lab!" bla bla bla bla and he rambled and rambled. My mother responed with "Sir, those are my sons Hookahs, or as we call them argileh's, it is a middle eastern hookah pipe that the entire family smokes TOBACCCCCOOOO out of, nothing else. She told them to smell them, look at my tobacco stash yada yada yada. He got off the phone with her and then called her back about an hour later. He apologized and said he went back to the office and did some research on hookahs, and found THIS SITE, and read up on it and the background of hookah, and he now is well informed they are not meant for other things. He said he thought it was pretty damn cool how it works and what not and informed the entire office to keep a lookout for these hookahs and to not pre-judge right off the bat, and to take all things into consideration before making an assumption.Well theres the story I thought the cop ended up being pretty freakin cool, and thanks to this site we seem to have gotten the entire fairhaven MA police station on our sides for the most part. I've worked security for concerts before and taken flasks, beers, and NHT from people. I'm normally the "biggest buzz kill of the night" I normally feel bad until I realize that they are not allowed to have those items in the theater and that they can get there flasks back at the end of the night. steeeeeeve Posted October 23, 2008 Share Posted October 23, 2008 i See alot of threads with police in the US giving trouble to hookah smokers but i find it really odd because in the UK hookah is no where near as big but every police officer that has seen mine has known exactly what it was.i know 4 police officers personally and they all actually smoke with me from time to time:) one smoked with me yesterday after scuba diving with me loli thought i was in for a sticky situation after i was assaulted last year because the officers came to my house for a statement WHILE i was smoking a bowl and before i could say anything went "oo i smoked that in egypt" was quite an interesting night.maybe someone in the US could consider writing up an awareness poster or something to supply police stations so that these situations dont happen so often.that being said its good to hear about an officer actually researching before he made a mistakeSteve Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There was no NHT in his house (there never was), and they broke all 5 of his hookahs. That made me so absolutely furious, and there's nothing he could do about it...
