Here's An Idea For You Glass Screen Owners...

Recommended Posts

For that matter why not just form a big square of foil into the same shape as a glass screen, then smoosh it over the bowl and it's business as usual?

Somehow I've never thought to try that... maybe once my throat's doing well enough to smoke I'll give it a shot!

Edit: wanted to make clear that I mean to omit the glass screen entirely, and see how it works out. Edited by AKammenzind

glass and AL have right about the same thermal exchange IIRC, so while the foil is thinner it as a material is similar.

there was argument when i had asked why you couldnt just poke one big hole in the middle of foil and i got a "it just wont work, the glass screen is different" yet that makes no sense.

ive just kinda given up on the phunel though since it lasts so long

With my glass screens, I have them soak in water first before trying to clean them.

I am not sure if it would work because foil is not nearly as good of a conductor for heat as glass

in the same thickness they should be about equal, in fact glass is a terrible conductor of heat

Maybe conductor of heat is the wrong word I mean it gets hotter so the tobacco cooks

IIRC AL and glass have the same thermal what ever (i dont remember the correct term) but i think they should get equally hot with the same amount of coals on them

The whole point of the glass screen was not to use foil and now you're using foil anyway? What is the point behind the glass screen then?

Just giving people a thought on how to keep their screen clean. Wrap it in foil if you are worried about how clean it is. If not, no need to.
