The Proper Way To Combine Flavors

Recommended Posts

well ive been trying to mix my flavors around and it doesnt seem to be going as well as i would like. right now i got a bowl of SB social smoke (minty) and SB grape blueberry going and its so so. this is just my latest attempt but my question is what is the proper method of mixing flavors? do i layer or mix? the bowl i got going now is layered but when i try to throughly mix i use the nutgrinder method. any ideas?

I mix often. Simply put the two shishas together in a small bowl, and mix it up real well for a good minute or so with a fork. Once it seems everything is mixed well, load your bowl as usual. Works great.

I like to throw the mix into a small glad container, seal it and shake it like a baby kitten mellow.gif

Honestly I use a fork for a second just to get it started then I throw the lid on and shake shake shake, seems to work.

I was doing the same thing as most other people, just throwing the flavors together then mixing in a separate container. I just got a small phunnel today and loaded one half of the bowl with raspberry and the other half with vanilla, and it worked out nicely. I thought it was cool cause I could adjust the flavor by just putting more coals on one side of the bowl. Edited by dafunk5446

My method, which seems to satisfy most smokers, involves stronger flavors on the bottom of the bowl topped off with the "weaker" flavor on top. I generally have no physical mixing but just layering which works very well.

ill layer if i have a flavor like bluemyst that doesnt like heat mixed with something like al waha that loves heat but basically always i just fill the bowl with what ever % of the shisha i want then i mix it up and drop it into the bowl a few times to help mix/equalize/fluff the shisha

the biggest issue with mixes is if they just taste good together. social smoke mixes well with coconut (i dont like coconut usually) or with a chocolate.

I just throw 50/50 on a lid and mix with my fingers

+1 thats what I usually do and it works fine. Only time I layer is when mixes Tangiers with non Tangiers. Then I just pack the Tangiers on the bottom and fluff on whatever else I'm mixing it with

put the flavours together in a bowl or dish and mix it with a fork.... then load your bowl and smoke.

fork? are you serious? YOU GOTTA GET DIRTY MAN!

Your fingers do more than justice when combining flavors. I mix my flavors in a plate and then I start mixing them for a good 30 seconds then start packing.

Its all in the mix...

I prep mine normally on a flat surface...normally a sheet of tinfoil.
I try to stick to all the flavors being from the same brand, otherwise the portions are thrown off drastically...could never get it right with a little from brand a and a little from brand b.

One of my favorite old "recipes"...

40%Jamaican Rum
60%Cola
