Brass Turning Yellow?

Recommended Posts

i have a brass hookah, and the part of the stem closest to bowl , the inside of it is starting to turn yellow, while the part of the stem touching the water is still a goldish brown. is it normal for brass to turn yellow? Edited by shishafan

im talking about the inside of the stem, not the outside, heres some pics. sorry for the crummy camera phone pics.

That means you need cleaning dude. Don't you have the cleaning kit together with your KM? Apply dish washing soap on the brush and brush it HARD. Than for the last touch up, some strong alcohol which would dissolve anything inside including the foul smell.

alcohol tarnishes brass further.

best thing to do is get a metal wooly and attach it to a clothes hanger and go crazy inside. then use baking soda/lemon juice paste to clean afterward.

yes..its safe to smoke out of...
Just oxidation of the material. One reason i like my myas.

thinking about getting a small acrylic, btw do those not change colors and oxidate? cause this syrian is freaking tall and im tired of cleaning it.

nope, the parts are all chromed. including the downpipe. All I have to do is whipe crud off the downstem with a paper towel sometimes.
