My Custom Hookah/Intro

Recommended Posts

Hey there everyone, first off i just want to thank everyone for keeping this forum going, and for offering more information on hookahs than all the other sites put together.  I've been lurking these forums for about 3 months now, i finally decided to register, and show all of you what your input has lead me to buy.  So here it is (excuse the crappy cell phone pics) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/done...eath/Photo-0046 1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/done...eath/Photo-0047 .jpgFirst i bought a stem, bowl, some cobra hoses and a cheap glass vase from tj-maxx.  That worked for awhile, but it broke due to a friend.  So then i went on another search, for an even cooler one, and this is what i found.  The vase, and plate underneath are both from Burlington coat factory. They're held together with clear liquid nails, i was also lucky enough to finally get some mya hoses today!  No more particles in my mouth!  Anyways, thanks again, and it's nice to be here.

wow, that vase is pretty cool looking...how's the smoke volume in there? on my tj maxx vase i had to adjust the stem length in order to make the chamber size above the water adequate for good smoke, i think about 4-5 inches high with something like a 2.5" diameter (what's that like 30 or 40 cubic inches or so? bah whatever), and it only fills the neck of the vase, none of the bulb (that's all water).it would be interesting to compare smoke chamber volumes and their effect on flavor/etc... it seems like that has a huge impact on the smoke in my experience.  oh well, i've rambled far too long already.

The smoke volume is pretty decent, I also extended the stem with a piece of pcv on this one.  My other tj maxx one has a HUGE smoke volume, it's about 2 ft tall as well, i'll take some pics of it sometime, but i definitely have to agree with you that the volume left for smoke in the vase makes a hell of a difference in my opinion.  I thought this one would be even better since the bulb of the vase is at the top, so all the smoke can fill it up, but after a few more uses i should have a better idea of how it smokes.

haha, I went to TJMaxx a few weeks ago looking for a cool vase and they didn't have anything NEAR as cool as that!  That's a really cool swirl pattern.  Looks nice there, donetodeath!
Also, you guys were talking about empty air space for smoke to accumulate.  How does the space relate to smoke thickness/volume?  I'd like to know.
thanks!

I havent really noticed a diffeence when the hookah is cooking nicely...
I have a little 24" with almost NO air space left in the vase, and a 34" with a HUGE hair space (bigger than the entire vase on the small one. ) and both can hit for BIG smoke. To be honest, the smaller one hits a bit better in my opinion. Just goes to show size isn't everything.

mushrat, you tried to shoot down the point i was making, but accidentally confirmed it.. bahahhaahi was saying, larger smoke volume leads to harsher , less flavorful smoke, in my experience.  i just never put it into actual "words"words.. bah
