also just because one method works for someone doesnt mean it will work for you

also if a more cost efficient way works for you then go with it

word. One specific way will work best for a specific person. Nothing HAS to be done an exact way to get results you want. I think it's best to choose from all possibilities to find what works best for YOU.

Just tried this pattern with a medium phunnel and some Nahkla. (Still smoking it now)

What a good pattern! My heat management has been lacking lately and this hole pattern is great. Thanks for posting. biggrin.gif

Glad to hear it worked well for you too smile.gif

I personally find the hole in the middle to be unneccessary if you make the foil tight enough to not be sucked down making it cover the hole

i agree 100% but since these are hand made and some times the center is higher (especially from what i have heard on the Chinese knockoffs) it may be necessary or something under it to push it up

Ive done both hole in the middle and no hole in the middle, both make good smoke, hole in the middle makes it slightly thinner. but i havent had a problem with the foil sealing the bowl and not being able to smoke.

really?!?! no hole in the middle makes it thicker?

I've recently gone back to my original hole pattern, which is basically the same except for it's only 8 holes around the outer ring - so only 16 holes total. Gives me perfect smoke volume, flavor, etc. Any slight variation of this should work well though.

I don't think holes make any difference what so ever...no one is better than any other one. More holes, more airflow, thats about it.

I smoked a bowl once that only had holes on half of the bowl. It smoked fine, the tobacco was slightly different on one side from the ash falling on one half and not the other, but both sides were roughly about as dried out.

Right on Eric. I just happened to find this hole size and pattern / number of holes always worked well for me (non Tangiers), and figured it might help hookah newbies out a bit.
