Bulldog_916
You STILL dont have enough holes. You still have the coal as a whole. Split it up and put it on the ENDS of the bowl. The outer edge. Pack more tobacco in the bowl. Should be even with the rim of the bowl. A little dense. Holes should be many more.
staygone
Pack it like so, and use a toothepick to poke the holes.-QM

staygone
It looks like you have too much in the second bowl, do a little less like bulldog with more holes.-QM
Zinite
If it's burning too easily, it's not the amount of holes you have. As far as what I've noticed, holes mainly change the airflow. You should cut the coals up and scatter them along the edge of the bowl. Also, try packing a little bit less. If too much tobacco is touching the foil then it will burn.
duckhater
I have a QT, pack less 1/4-1/8 below rim of bowl. Also fluff your shisha with your hands and drop it into the bowl lightly, you can push gently if you want, however I don't.Nice thick clouds, rarely burns....anything touches the foil = shisha is crispy. Stuie
Here's another thought...what kind of coals are you using? Are you rotating you coal or ashing it?I haven't had a burn mark like that on my foil in a very long time.

drabin
I can't believe no one has asked him if his foil is tight or if it is drooping when he puts the coals on. if it sinks its likely to sink till it can't anymore aka when it hits the shisha... Zinite
How new is your hookah? Could it be a bad/rusty/nasty hose? Also, what kind of foil are you using? I've never seen foil burn like that unless exposed to a direct flame. Try using Reynolds Heavy Duty, or two layers of light foil. Stuie
I think you maybe putting the QLs on too quickWhen I use QLs I wait till they are fully white before placing them on...that maybe the problem or a stab at an answer at least
uzzy_00
the hookah is like 2 months old, the hose is the one that comes with the QT i washed it like once the coal is Red when i put it on the foili dunno the first month i used the qt it was amazing, then i used my Km for like a few weeks and got back to the qt cant get it to work! dead_lemons
try waiting for the coal to turn grey, ql's put out the most heat when they are first lit because of the starting compound.
Bulldog_916
The shisha can touch the foil, it isnt an issue. I dont know how you guys get this idea that shisha touching the foil burns it. I've been packing bowls with the shisha touching the foil for over a year now. Not once have I had it burn within the first few minutes. Break the QL into quarters and try it that way. Show us everything. How you pack the bowl. How you foil it. How you have the coals on the bowl. Maybe if it all comes down to it, you have to change the shisha or get a different bowl. modisess
i agree with zinite on this one, i have never seen a foil get a burn mark like that ever. like others have said, try breaking the QL's in half then lighting them. my mya bowl works great with 2 cocos so i can't seem to point a finger at what might be wrong with your setup. indian_villager
How many coals are you putting on? You need like one broken in half. Thats it!
Hippo_Master
He said he "doesn't have the chance" to move the coals around, so obviously that's the problem. He probably is using Ql that are sub-par, and burn very hot. QL coals tend to burn much hotter then natural coals, for a shorter period. He could live in a humid climate, or a very dry one, that causes the juicy brand shisha to burn quickly. What he should do is get different coals, Natural coals most definitely, that don't burn as hot (Coconara, Awa'el Coconut). Also, not nearly enough holes for an Egyptian bowl. The poker used should go all the way down to the bottom when poking. The more holes you have, the less surface area of the foil is being over-heated by direct coal placement. Making many pathways keeps the coals at a constant temperature, and the heat is being directed more toward the bottom of the shisha in the bowl then around the top of the shisha and the foil surface. You aren't supposed to wash those hoses with any liquids (they have a metal coil in them that rusts). If your hose has rust on the inside, that may be the problem. Try to use a different hose, or use the Mya hose on a different hookah that you know smokes well (your KM?) and see if it's harsh.

The taste would add to the harshness, making it extremely unpleasant, but chances are if he just inhaled through the hose when it is not connected it would not be harsh, just unsatisfying taste-wise.
