MechAnt
That looks most definitely like a Chinese Phunnel. Their middle hole thingy is about flush with the rim. I read elsewhere how (GNR I think it was) was able to get around it somehow.

Voski
You could also make/buy a mod to work around the problem.
christopherj
i also want to add that the middle part is about a cm below the top of the outside rim
mattathayde
QUOTE (christopherj @ Nov 3 2008, 12:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i also want to add that the middle part is about a cm below the top of the outside rimo well then dont even try to sand it down that is fine. the pics just make it hard to see where it all is if the foil is falling down and plugging the hole use a bigger piece of foil so that is has more grip on the bowl to stay tight and make sure you pull your foil really tight, keep it tight while poking holes and then retighten when you are done poking-matt
GeorgieHC
The pics looks odd, I do not know why there is a ring of non-glazed surface around the rim as well as that white line in the bowl portion. The easy way to tell if it is Chinese or Genuine is the where the head sits on the gasket if that inner part of where you grip it, is a solid line up to the funnel portion it is Tangier's if it is only solid where the gasket sits and then there is a gap to the inner wall it is Chinese. I think if you over pack the head like you need to with Tangiers tobacco it will eliminate this problem. I always cover the funnel part with a doming portion of tobacco. Hope that helps. fineout
my phunnel did that too, just put a bigger hole in the middle and it wont suck down at all...just keep the coals away from it.

Make a hole in the center of the foil2. Put the tip of the poker in the hole3. Let the tongs hang off the side of the bowl with the poker still in the hole. This should lift the foil from the center and fix your problem. It is extremely ghetto but works.
