ChexPex
Ok so i just got the coco quick lights and i absolutely love it... Beware college students it can almost set off the fire alarm w hen u light it**** Haha anyways.. so i use a small chinese phunnel bowl.. and i poke two rings on the outside.. a tiny ring the middle with one big hole in the middle... So i get AMAZING smoke.. right off the bat.. then it gets really really harsh... i mean i dont know how i can fix it.. maybe less holes or something? Making it to two coconaras helps but i want to be able to use 3... any ideas?
Voski
I have the same problem. They make the bowl taste bad and I get harsh smoke too. But if I put real cocos on the same bowl everything is fine
Codename067
You are using 3 Cocos on a small chinese phunnel? isn't that a bit too much? how much can u pack in the chinese ones?

Rani
I use either a funnel or an unusually wide Eqyptian bowl and use two only on opposite sides of the bowl with a tiny bit of each coal hanging off. Three rows of holes around the edges of the bowl and then if it's the funnel one in the middle or on the Eqyptian, like a cross. Then I ash and move them like any natural. I find that I do have to use a little less tobacco though because these coals glow so hot that if the tobacco is close to the foil it scorches and there's that harshness you're talking about. Since I'm using less tobacco and getting every moment of pure flavor out of what I'm using, I don't find it a problem. I do find if you light two together (yes, I know it sounds weird but it works) you don't give any more sparks or flame but the coals seem to feed off each other and you have less flipping issues early into the smoke. noca$h
Not enough holes to let the heat circulate/shisha breathe? I poke as many holes as possible with whatever poker im using (Shiskabob skewer, toothpick, thumbtack etc.) I toss 3 QL Cocos on and it never gets harsh or burns the bowl and I get great smoke and flavor.
