Hookah Flavor

Hello all, i am pretty new to hookah smoking and had a question about my hookah. i am not sure if i am even supposed to get that much taste to it, but i am using a hobohookah with a smartwater bottle with the stem submerged about 2 inches. i am using 1 quicklight coal and black label orange. If anyone has any tips how i can get more flavor with each hit i would appreciate it. btw i get good thick clouds of smoke.

try other tobaccos. I recommend Al Fakher.

to address your problem, try using half a quicklite first, see if that works. maybe using the whole charcoal is just too much heat.

Get a real tobacco, not the herbal crap and watch your heat. If you are going to use a whole ql, make sure to break it in pieces and put them around the edge of the bowl.

alright thanks guys, two more questions, how can i clean my hose? theres still a smell and taste from my last session. and also how do i tell if i have too much heat or not enough heat?

if you're hose is not washable, then don't even think about it. not really a big deal if your hose is flavor ghosting, the smell will usually go away when you smoke another flavor.

and

too much heat - harsh smoke, less flavor.

not enough heat - wispy smoke.

if you want to get fancy you can get a small air compressor, i have one only becuase i have alot of uses for it. the pressure of the air coming our of it can get the smell out of any hose.

I've kinda been having this problem lately too.
I'm using a small phunnel with sweetmelon starbuzz. Do you guys think perhaps im not packing the phunnel enough? I'm wondering if this is the problem.... not sure tho. 'Cause i do try to keep the shisha loose so it can all be reached.

firstly what hookah are you using. when was the last time the hookah was cleaned with a brush and/or some lemon/lime juice. Have you cleaned the hose recently? what coals are you using?

just cleaned it last night with lemon juice and baking soda. i don't have washable hoses so i blew them for a while. seems to work for the most part. its a 19' maju hookah. im using about 1.5 40mm 3 kings.

I made an accidental volcano back in the day doing that...no smell or taste left over in the base though!

I clean my hose with hot tap water.. fill it and hold the ends with your fingers, you can swill it about and give it a tab against the edge of the basin to dislodge any buildup, flush it through till it runs nice and clear.

darn, because i really like the melon flavors. maybe i just did something wrong... i once had a really strong flavored one at a lounge and it was amazing. I thought they were using starbuzz Edited November 16, 2008 by engineonmute

ok guys i got some al waha afternine, and it was much better than the black label. another question, when i put the coal on the foil, is it supposed to "sizzle"? or is it too hot or something.

ummmmmmmmm. what's sizzling? if its a quicklight it will make a noise as such when you light it... ive never heard my shisha make any noise tho. however, make sure you're not smashing the shisha down with the tinfoil

My coals typically make a sizzling noise for a quick second when I first put them to the foil, no clue why but it doesn't harm the experience at all.

The sizzle comes from the juices boiling off after making their way onto the surface of the foil from your poking apparatus. I sizzle every time, I figure if it doesn't sizzle, then I did something wrong.

Tangier's got da flava flav, highly recommended.
