Well, the tape fixed the pull but not the harshness, I used blue painters tape as not to have any sticky residue later. Smoked last night and the second I took a hit of the AF Watermelon (which was fine last time I smoked it) it was harsh and very chemical. I'm really starting to think it might be the bowl, I'm going to try a different egyptian bowl as soon as I can and see if that's the ticket.

Switched to a medium phunnel full of Tangiers M Cherry and as my first solo Tangiers experience and it went alright, definately not as bad as it could have been but I need to work on it, will try again tonight.

That's how AF watermelon is nowadays, just check the review section for reference. Sb is 50x better and still has the generic Jolly Rancher flavor that people seem to love...

But AF smokes like a bitch.

Well Code, I still have no conistency to them.

I've tried - Small holes, big holes, many holes, few holes, 1 coal, 2 coals, 1.5 coals, 2 1/6ths of a coal, 2 1/8ths of a coal, 1/3 of a coal, *gasp*.....exotica coals, jap coals, lots of shisha, less shisha, packed loose, not so loose, higher water level, lower water level, sigh...

The only thing I can think of as a variable I haven't tried is using a different egyptian bowl. On that tip I'm COMPLETELY broke right now so I'll have to wait untill mansman comes over next week to try his egyptian and his Mya bowls out.

Can anyone think of ANYTHING ELSE that I could try out to fix my issues? I'm pretty much at a loss.

The reason I hesitate to use my phunnel often is that I don't have time for very long sessions so an egyptian bowl is best till the miniphunnels come in.

If you pack your phunnel roughly loose it will only last a little longer than a regular egyptian, hold more flavor, and might regulate the heat a little better if you have a wide one.

if you want to add a slight burst to your flavor, something i used to do was add about a half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of sugar to my shisha. mix it in well.

It seems like you have tried all the differet types of coals, so i wish i could help you there. but generally the more the natural the coal the more flavor you will get from the shisha.

hope any of this helps.
