mushrat
Depends on WHY they are sticking. Are the holes to big for the bearings so they are falling in and getting stuck, or are the bearings themselves sticky? You may want to try washign the ebarings with rubbing alchohol or hot soapy water and a scotch pad if they are sticky. If the holes are too big, try bigger balls. (i know this is gonna end up sig'ed)
stevedavejesus
i did soak them in alchohol and iodized salt..i eaven lubed them with oil but nothing... and the bearings are not to big i mean the thing is brand new you would think they would put the right sized balls.. Hippo_Master
Nah man you can't assume stuff like that. If it's an Egyptian, which I am assuming it is, it may or may not be made of the highest quality materials known to man, so the bearing probably won't fit. Try replacing them with plastic airsoft bb's, which might fit but might not. Mushrat is saying that the bearing may be too small, or the holes too large (either or), therefore dropping too far down the hose port and clogging the air passage without being loose enough to be sucked out with the hose. Airsoft BB's are your best bet, but fi those don't work you and friends might just have to get in the habit of plugging the hose... . Youc an also plug them up paper towel, playdoh, silly putty, tape, etc. when smoking alone.

stevedavejesus
im not sure, i think its in the grommit where my hose goes into because if i push the hose down farther or twist it, it unclogs...

Hippo_Master
Blow on your main hose, if the bearing in the other 2 ports jingle around then it's not them. You say the grommet, and the grommet can pinch shut if it's a flimsy plastic or silicone one.Maybe your grommet is getting pushed so far down that it holds the ball bearing down, so when you inhale the bearing can't move at all. Then, when you push the hose in, the grommet gets separated and releases the bearing enough to allow air through it.

You can't purge the hookah...Well i still think the grommet might be holding the bearing down. And also, remove one of the bearing and make a main hose, hookahs usually need to be purged. Hippo_Master
QUOTE (stevedavejesus @ Nov 5 2008, 12:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>what exactly do you mean purged... im somewhat new at the hookah thing...Ohh my bad man!OK, when the smoke gets harsh, and it's sitting in the base, there's no need to inhale it more right? On 1 hose egyptians, there is a port on the opposite side of the hose port, where when you blow into your hose, the smoke in the base clears through the "purge valve". In your case, the 3 extra hoses will act as purge valves because of the bearings, and blowing into your hose will release the smoke in the base that is harsh and burned. The problem with your setup is that having ball bearing in all the ports blocks your ability to purge, therefore if a bowl get's harsh, you have to wait it out or open your base and blow in it. stevedavejesus
oh i usually just unscrew a port because the ports have a pin that goes in one way that holds the bearing in i cant get it out. i think i just need to buy another port....
