Ill start:
One time i went to my friends house for a small party type of thing, we got the urge to smoke hookah. he has a little like 20 inch non brand hookah.
-first the shisha had been sitting out for who knows how long, i assume weeks. then the stem was so dirty you could barely see through it. and to top it off we had to use charcoal briquettes to light it. his hose leaked and bowl would barely stay on. it was the worst session of my life.

My first time. My wife suprised me with a hookah and I'd never even smoked one before. I went on line and found some bad dirctions (before i found this great place) and ran out to get shisha and coals. Bought Nakhla 2 aple and some quicklights. Came home, packed the bowl too tight and put the entire coal in teh center of the bowl half lit. 15 minuts later im laying on the couch trying not to puke with my head spinning thinking to myself "I must be doing something wrong, this can't be what all the excitement is about."

I found proper instructions the next day and its been cool ever since.

The first few minutes yielded a head-swimming buzz so strong I actually said "this can't be legal." Within 15 minutes I was trying so hard not to throw up and talking aloud to my dog for emotional support.

Luckily, I gave it a second try, and I have found love.

One of my worst was actually one of the first times I went to my now-favorite hookah bar. My roommate and I asked for a bowl of AW 5 Star, and the employee screwed pretty much everything up. Very little smoke, horrible taste, headache, etc... Even as timid as I was back then, I asked for something different.

Within the next couple days, that employee was gone (not sure if he quit or was fired) and the owner of the lounge offered me his apologies and a couple of free sessions. I still can't stand 5 Star though.

worst experience ever: last night. smoking my mya mini acrylic. first up was a very lightly packed jet phunnel. puff puff puff big time rapidly to get it smoking. caught a buzz for a few. let it simmer, started to smoke good, 30 minutes later the bowls out. OK, lets grab the tangiers phunnel. pack it with whats left of af watermelon. a little lower than i usually pack it but no biggie. foil keeps getting stuck to the hole. refoil it. same problem after 20 minutes. back to the jet, this time red rhino nicely packed. puff my ass off to get it lit and start feeling sick. went to bed and slept. the end

I'd say the worst session I ever had was the first time my roommate and I tried out our new phunnel bowl, but I'd be lying. For the first few days we had it, it kept getting progressively worse and worse until I got so frustrated I quit smoking period. The medium phunnel came in with some romman citrus mint, which was the first thing we ever smoked out of our hookah (awesome btw). I watched some tutorial videos here and there while I was waiting on the phunnel to get in, because I'm one of those guys who gets all hyped up while I'm waiting on something I bought to be shipped. Since I watched probably 10 different videos on how to pack and smoke a phunnel I got all cocky. First we used 1 coal and nothing was happening. Then 2, and there was hardly any airflow and still no smoke. Then 3, and it tasted like pure coal and no airflow. We waited a few hours and tried again but it got worse. Then a few days later we tried and I almost threw up. I couldn't get that nasty coal citrus taste out of my mouth for a week.

Then I watched some video of people doing smoke tricks and decided to try one more time packing half a bowl by myself, which was the best smoke I ever had.

One of my friends planned a get together at a local hookah lounge. It was $15 cover charge and smoke all night. Opens at 9pm until 2am. I thought to myself "this is a great opportunity to try new flavors!". I call up my boys and we head out at 9:30pm to take advantage of the time frame. We get there and the staff tells us that the shisha flavors are already made and its up to the server to decide which bowl goes into whoever's hookah. I'm thinking "Damn, I hope its not shitty flavors and I sure hope they know what their serving because I may considering buying this flavor in the future".
We get seated and see the nice hookah they use there. Couldn't make out the brand but had a nice touch to it and looks very classy. Round 1 comes and the server shows up with some coals and a bowl. First thing I noticed was that they use some type of rubber-like seal for the bowl rather than foil (like at home). Second was the water in the chamber looks very dirty. The chamber was glass and it appeared to be brown and reddish. These 2 things was a give-a-way for the night. We take couple hits to get it started and boy was the smoke and flavor craptastic. It was a very disappointing night. The smoke was not even close to thick. The only good thing that happened that night was I saw one of my homegirl's there (haven't seen her for a year). Don't go to Stogies Hookah-Hut in Albany, CA if you're looking forward for good smoke. The pool tables and mini dance floor adds a touch to it though. One of my worst times I just got terrible tobacco poisioning smoking Nakhla.

But the worst I ever witnessed was crazy. Me and some guys were smoking Layalina Blackberry which wasn't bad or anything, but these other guys showed up with their hookah. So they were cool n all, and they are like "yeah have you ever heard of putting milk in the base? it's suppose to work wonders!"

Of course, the guys put too much milk in, and when one of the guys pulled he got a mouth full of warm milk. Gross, I felt bad for them.

Back in the day me and my friend would smoke with two quicklights on a tiny bowl. Just keep on smoking it like champions regardless of how much your throat's on fire and it tastes like burned toast. Who needs health?

Seriously, thanks to this place my hookah enjoyment level has gone up over 9000 % Hats off to everybody.

my worst experiences were when of course I first started smoking hookah, I had learned from some of my indian friends how to reasonably do a decent hookah (they only used nakhala) And while I have plenty of "bad experiences" one summer I got some nakhala coffee and smoked it nearly the whole summer almost every night with a 20" egyptian. Didn't break apart my quicklites and with such a small bowl it got harsh every single time since that summer I don't really touch anything coffee flavored.


But a more defining worst experience is when I picked up some el nakhala vanilla and did an orange/vanilla mix, made two of my friends sick and was some of the worst tasting shit I've ever had.

Thankfully my stories aren't quite as bad as some of yours, but still, you gotta learn sometime lol

2 bad seshes.

1. Nakhla lemon, never again. Cloud 9, couldnt walk, felt like retching, terrible experience.

2. Messed up on a bowl of AF mint, didnt poke enough holes. The sesh went something like this

"Hey is the smoke like hot? Like its not harsh, just hot right?"

*Shrug*"Not really"

*Nod*"Eh, screw it"

15 minutes later I walk out to get a drink of water, pass out on my couch downstairs. Wakeup to find my buddy still knocked out on my bed.

me and my friends went to the colorodo river, we brought the hookah in a huge rush and only brought strawberry/kiwi. we get there its mid summer so its literally 125 degrees in the day and 105 at night. the hookah water was so hot and i could have sworn the bowl was smoking even without coals. i brought natural coals but forgot a hammer and a coal holder. i made one out of foil (which i didnt forget to bring. the intense heat just made us all sick and woozy and bowl did not taste good.
