....Edit: Rubber that smells that way is because of excesses of sulfur, generally. It should be safe...although it might taint flavor and still smell bad.

Geezz but even if I smoke WITHOUT that grommet, the taste is still friggen there in the damn phunnel.

The smell...Damn it won't go away. So basically, I have to smoke it with that aftertaste in the smoke. It is not pleasing whatsoever

I emailed H-C about my problem. I asked if I could get a partial refund because the smell/taste is so horrid...i can;t even smoke with the Chinese bowl. I know I can't get a full refund by returning it since I've already used it

Damn it, now I regret thinking that $5 was gonna be a "money saver" if I bought the Chinese phunnel. I should've to my gut feeling by buying the Tangiers bowl instead! Edited November 11, 2008 by JillyIsJustKidding

try and boil the bowl it might get rid of the nasty smell.. I dont think it should hurt the bowl as ive boil my tangiers bowl before didnt crack it or anything. Edited November 11, 2008 by newjacksm

I emailed H-C and they were nice enough to mail me out a new bowl for free, without the "nasty smelly" grommet lol
