Question About Where To Acclimate

Recommended Posts

Ok so i usually have a hookah with my fam in the living room, then go in the basement and smoke and drink w/ my friends. My basement is warmer when its cold outside/in the living room and its hotter when its cold outside/in the living room. So when smoking tangiers what should I do? Because one spot seems to always be warmer or more humid than the other. Do I really need to split the container in two and acclimate one bowl worth upstairs and one downstairs?

Thanks guys

Solution: Acclimate it on the stairs between your main floor and basement so it gets the humidity from both rooms!

Seriously though, try picking up a digital hygrometer from Ace or Home Depot (cheap ones run $10, I've seen them for $30-40 at hardware stores though). With that, you can measure the humidity in both rooms and see if there's as big of a difference as you think.

I always acclimate in my kitchen and smoke in the garage. Sometimes the temperature change is from 70 degrees F to 30-40 degrees F or 80-90 degrees F(last year we smoked when it was in the range of -15 to 0 degrees F). I judge that it will smoke good when the tobacco smells right. I have never had issues with my sessions.

I would just acclimate it where ever it seems convinient.

yeah I knew that bit of info but, just figured it could smell right from acclimating in the basement, then if i brought it upstairs it would still smell right but once i start smoking it I thought the diff. humidity upstairs could mess it up. I didnt think the smell would change instantly when I brought it in a diff room, ya know?

My bag of Orange Soda kinda misled me though about the smelling right, tasting right scenario.. I let it acclimate for close to 4 hours, as it smelled like it should, but it did smoke alittle more harsh. I let it sit out some more, and it smells even more like orange soda.. It is sometimes hard to know what smells right, especially if you are trying a new flavor. Sometimes you have to try it to know for sure, and go from there..
