thecyrax
I'm in the market for an ice hookah! After all the praise on the site, I've decided to go with a KM instead of adding an ice bucket to my current MYA Paragon.I do want a KM, but do you guys think I should go for the added ice bucket (which I have heard some not so great things about) and converting it to a 4 hose from a single hose or go ahead and get the KM ice. Also, is there any difference besides price and size of the gothookahs.com 35" and 39" hookahs? I really prefer the largers pipes, but am curious if there is any real difference between the two smoke-wise or functionality-wise.Thanks in advance for any input. Zinite
I have a KM Ice. It smokes better than any hookah I've tried. Unless there's something I'm missing, I don't think you can convert KMs to get more hoses. The hose ports are welded on, not screwed in.
liquidglass
well I've only heard positives and neutrals about ice buckets, my friend is about to grab himself a KM ice bucket so to my knowledge go ahead and grab it.
Hippo_Master
You can't convert KM hookahs silly goose. All KM's smoke the same, but I don't think you rally need an ice chamber. It's just one more thing...
Zinite
The ice chamber doesn't cool the smoke nearly as much as simply adding ice to the water in the base. I like the look of the chiller on the KM though.
FactorE
yes i think ima grab a KM chiller as well, just to experiment!

I worded it a bit awkwardly, but if you read my post again, I was talking about converting my Mya Paragon to a 4-hose and using it for parties, then going for a different KM for regular smoking. I've heard the ICE smokes the best with or without the ice in the bucket. I see you have one. If so, have you tried other KM's?Looking for Codename to chime in on this one
antouwan
from my experiences (i own both myas and a km, and an array of other hand-made pipes) you cannot get anything better than a traditional single-hose arageel! seriously though, handmade pipes smoke and purge better than any mya i've ever smoked out of. and as for the km, you might as well go with an mz or another well-made handmade pipe (i have an exotica, and perfer my other handmade egyptian and lebanese to it, because the km is way too big to be manageable AND i find the others smoke better, if only a little) to save the money - unless you REALLY want the Khalil Ma'moon name.solo mis dos centavos. thecyrax
Well, I'm keeping the Mya either way. I just want the KM for smoking with small groups. The price of the KM isn't that big of a deal and 35"+ is a must for me.I'm not worried about difficulty cleaning, tipping, etc.I'm just wanting the best smoking, large KM. Also, I want one of my pipes to have an ice chamber so I can use that if needed.I know the traditional single-hoses smoke better. I'm not trying to say the MYA is the best, but when buying it I did so because it was high quality and IMO it is one of the most beautiful pipes you can buy. From what I've heard MZ's and KM's are fairly similar as far as quality of smoke, ease of pull, purge, etc.None of the MZ's really tickle my fancy, however so I'm opting for the ever-praised KM option.Right now, I think I'll either be buying the 39" ICE, SSR, or Exotica. Then again, usually all egyptian pipes smoke good. Ive smoked out of many different KMs but dont know their names. Some i know are the tri-metal, and hafa. Aslo, from researching, ICE/Exotica (same thing minus ice chamber) smokes best

D:to be honest with you, ive only put ice in my chamber once. Did it make a difference? Yes. It was about 95degF in my backyard and i decided to smoke outside. THe smoke was pretty cool for inhaling all that hot air. Just get the ICE and call it a day dude.
SmokinMoose
I smoke out of a Mashal and I always put ICE in the chamber. Its amazing I love it i always have cool smoke. If you like the look of the Ice chamber and have an ice maker then get the ICE model. Most of the KMs on the market smoke the same. The diameter of the downstem and the base are what make the huge difference.
Hippo_Master
When you smoke the majority of the smoke sits in your Base. So in order for the smoke to be really, really cold the base would need to be just that. The water doesn't chill the smoke much, and the stem can't possibly chill the smoke much at all (the smoke is being pulled through really quickly), but when the smoke sits in the base right before you inhale then it is going to be chilled if the base is cold enough. rigor
I'm in the same exact boat - stuck deciding between a 35" KM Ice or a 39" KM Ice.After measuring things out, it seems the 35" would be about the right height for me to manage coals comfortably while sitting next to the hookah. The 39" might require me to stand up to see what I'm doing. However, since they are so close in price, I don't mind going for the 39" if for some reason it's going to smoke better. I assume they are going to smoke exactly the same ?TIA

Hippo_Master
Excatly the same, the 29" one will just be harder to lug around.
thecyrax
I assume you mean the 39" one. This hookah would not be going anywhere, so that's really not any concern.Theoretically don't taller pipes cool down the smoke a bit more since it has a further distance to travel between the bowl and water?I know there wouldn't be much, if any, difference in a 35" and 39" hookah, but just throwing that out there.I like the taller hookah look-wise anyway.I think I've made up my mind
