Zinite
I clean my entire hookah after each session, but I'm starting to notice a residue or build up above where the water line is on my vases. Has anyone else experienced this? It's possible that it's calcium/hard water build up from the water bouncing around in the vase when I smoke, I just want to narrow down what it is so I can clean it properly.I use lemon juice/baking soda to clean the hookahs. Every once in awhile I throw in some rubbing alcohol. Thanks in advance Edited November 12, 2008 by Zinite
AKammenzind
Well if lemon juice and baking soda don't get it off, you could always try brushing it vigorously with lots of soap... doubt it'll do much more though. I've got a similar thing going on in my base, but nothing really seems to work. Doesn't bug me though, as my base is practically opaque.
mushrat
ya, thats normal. glass cleaner. greased lightning, etc should take it off. Just organic residue.
peterjmag
I have the same problem with one of my Egyptians. I think we finally realized that it was caused by leaving the water sitting in the base overnight after a session. If you don't already, start rinsing out your base after you're done smoking, instead of just leaving it out on the coffee table like I did.To get rid of the ring, I suggest something like Cafiza or Urnex, which are normally used to clean caffeine deposits from espresso machines. Just use a little bit, and make sure you rinse thoroughly. I've never been able to completely get rid of the ring, but cleaning it with Urnex helped a lot. Zinite
QUOTE (mushrat @ Nov 12 2008, 02:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>is your vase painted? If not, consider the dishwasher...The KM is painted with the standard random camel assortment. There's another post saying that Efferdent will clean all that shit up, I'm going try that and report back.
GreatPigHookah
A capful or two of bleach, then fill with hot water. Let it stand overnight. It will eat damn near anything off. I used to clean my beer carboys out (using about 1/4 cup of bleach) this way. Rinse thoroughly the next day and it'll be squeeky clean.
Bulldog_916
Try baking soda. I notice that smells wont stick at all once you treat the base with baking soda and water.
