Hojo
QUOTE (joytron @ Nov 12 2008, 06:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>try heating up the coals longerThis. There should be small flames coming off the coal when you take it off the burner. A partially-lit coal will give you campfire flavor in a heartbeat. drabin
Um what brand are you using. It doesn't matter how much they are lit if they are just bad coals.
Click
Quick lights such as three kings, golden quick lites, roland may add a particular taste. It may simply be too hot?
gaia.plateau
If you're using quicklights or naturals with chemical compounds like Exoticas or Rolands, you probably aren't lighting them fully. If you're using a coconut-based coal, I have no idea. Half the time I throw on my 'Naras only half lit and I've never had any problems.
modisess
maybe you have too much coals on... but if you're impatient about waiting for the coals to get fully red, just pick up the coals and put them in front of a running fan... that'll do the job. staygone
Light the coals all the way, don't put too much on the bowl, more holes/less holes, experiment. Step...It...Up.-QM Edited November 13, 2008 by QuiltedMaple
