mushrat
tangiers?I take a exotica, about an inch or an inch and a half, break it into smaller pieces and use that on a traditional bowl.
Click
No need for me to break exoticas cause right as I go to pick them up they break into a hundred pieces!

cb1021
shisha is like cooking, use your chef intuition. harsh = less heat needed, anytime before it turns harsh, you can use more and more heat as it brings out more flavor.
erufiku
I tend to break the finger coals into smaller pieces. It's kind of a bitch to light 4 small pieces instead of just two bigger ones, but makes heat management a lot easier. Although this is only an issue w/Tangiers for me... AF can take the heat.As for your question, when I smoke Nakhla from my large/shallow-ish unglazed egyptian bowl, I'll usually use half a finger broken in three pieces, sometimes I light up four of those pieces to get the bowl going. Other baccy smokes better in a MYA bowl, so I use no more than three pieces (1 piece = 1/6 finger) at a time
ryno
With AF I usually use either 2 cocos or a third and a quarter of an Exotica. Windercover after about a half hour

Bulldog_916
I'm just trying to smoke through these stargate coals right now, faster the better. On an Egyptian bowl with AF, I use 2 1/3s of an exotica stick for juicy tobaccos. Or, if that's too much, 2 1/4s.

Try it.As for the shattering Exoticas, ya..my last few boxes are getting less dense every time...Not sure where they are going to go from here but i have a bad feeling. Guest DJ_HOSSEIX
For AF i always use 2 coco naras and i easily get close to a 1.5 hr smoke sess with it running perfect.
