Artsy Music

So, I've been painting pretty much everyday. I have been listening to Blonde Redhead, Elliott Smith, and Bright Eyes when I paint. The selection has gotten a little old. I need your guys help for some new bands to look into. What kind of artsy, influential music do you listen to?

"Artsy" music? What the shit does that mean? Gorilla Jesus I drank 25 shots of Appleton's tonight and a bottle of red wine and it's not even 1am.

I'm inferring that you mean "indie rock", to use a deplorable but accurate label.

Look into Bound Stems. I've been obsessed with them for about 3 days. Also... like... The Hush Sound. And Stars. And The Saps. And The Shins. And Land of Talk. And The Submarines. And Tilly and the Wall. And Weakerthans. And Dirty Pretty Things. And The Mars Volta. And The Little Ones. And Maximo Park. And Late of the Pier. And Film School.

That should get you started.

artsy music????? >_<

I'll make a list of stuff that wouldn't completely weird you out.

Akron/Family
Ghost Mice
Andrew Jackson Jihad
Defiance, Ohio
This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb
Animal Collective
Art Brut
Band of Horses
Beirut
Blind Pilot
The Books
The Boy Least Likely To
Cloud Cult
Cold War Kids
Deerhoof
Desert City Soundtrack
Devendra Banhart

I started going through my music and posted things you might like. I only went to the end of D and figured that would be sufficient. tongue.gif 2-4 on the list are folk punk and it's the genre i've been digging lately.

One of my best friend's got married. She decided that it would be great sport for me to get wasted very quickly. Her groom decided that the two of us and his groomsmen should all smoke massive stogies outside in -15 weather (windy), which led to them being smoked very quickly. So their blessed union directly resulted in the destruction of my liver and lungs, yaaay.

A lot of my art is inspired by my own dark views on life, love, and relationships. The music that usually touches on that is by: Suicide Commando, Wumpscut, VNV Nation, Slipknot, Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, and Marilyn Manson from time to time. I'm not limited to those bands, by no means, but they are the ones that strike that chord most often.
