AKA
I know this has probably already been brought up a million times already but do any of you guys smoke anything else other than hookah? Im interested in trying a pipe. How do they compare to hookah? Which do you enjoy more? Pros and cons? Do you find one to be superior over the other? dafunk5446
I smoked pipe and cigars for quite a while before hookah (and ciggies). All are different and good in their own right. Since I started smoking hookah I dropped the cigars and pipes. Just not the same after you find hookahs.
mbeck
Pipe smoking is very different from hookah smoking as it involves straight tobacco with no molasses and no flavoring, although there are some flavored ones out there, they are not the same. To each their own, I personally dont like cigars or pipes but I do smoke cigarettes so its a matter of taste. Hope this helps.Regards,MikeHookah Life
AKA
Hmm interesting to know. I like opinions. Im just wondering because I dont want to be missing out on something that may actually be better than hookah.
slingham
I used to be pretty into pipes. Its a lot like hookah as far as different brands of pipes an tobacco blends, an there's a lot of technique in packing the tobacco an smoking. If you want to get into it I recommend going to a good shop and talking with them and checking out all their pipes til you find the one you want. If you have more specific questions pm me an I can help you out.
dafunk5446
Yeah its really a matter of personal opinion, like stated above go to a shop and talk with them about it, you can get a setup for fairly cheap and try it out for yourself. But trust me your not missing out on anything if you have found hookah.
Giant Ninja Robot
I have a briar pipe and frankly have smoked it once since becoming a more serious hookah smoker. Not that its bad but you dont get the voluminous smoke, you dont inhale, and though it's satisfying in it's own rightm it's just not the same anymore.I AM still an avid cigar lover though, that's a great experience to have if you've never had a nice premium cigar...but at the price of 1-3 250g tubs of shisha I don't much smoke those anymore either. AKA
ha I know what you mean about price. Im pretty cheap myself. Not that you are. TTYL
dafunk5446
Yeah and unless you pay +$20 for a cigar, its just a regular cigar, I would agree though the occasional splurge on a $30 dollar cigar is worth it, but for a daily event!!!! You better be bringing in some big bucks, and if you are send some my way so I can enjoy them more often!
Giant Ninja Robot
I don't necessarily agree with the price comment. One of the best cigars I ever had was a honduran reject I bought for 3 bucks at a local shop. I've had cubans, padrons and other pricey cigars and that was easily top 3 territory. dafunk5446
Oh I wasnt meaning that they had to be a $30 to be good, should have stated that. Just that most people wont be able to tell the diffrence until you start getting into high dollar cigars. You can find some real diamonds out there for cheap (my usual go to cigar were these nasty looking little cigars that looked like they had been run over with a truck, that only cost 20 bucks for a 30 count box). Also most cigar conasuire's will tell you that anything less will be crap.

Big Boss
Tobacco is my personal demon. At some point in my life I've smoked: cigars, cigarettes, pipes, and hookah, and I've used smokeless tobacco (Skoal). I'm on a "hookah break" right now but I'm using smokeless and cigarettes. I gotta quit. I just gotta.

ColibriDon
I've smoked pipes, cigars, cigarettes, and now hookah. I dropped the cigs and have a cigar maybe once every 2-3 months but I smoke my pipe maybe 2-3 times a month. I love smoking hookah but there's just something about my pipe. Maybe it's knowing that the process hasn't changed for so long that makes pipe smoking so enjoyable but is definitely enjoyable. I love Stanwell tobacco but my shop does some really great aromatics. I would say to give it a try and head down to your local pipe shop and talk to the guys there. Don't know where you live but if you live in Tampa, PM me and I can recommend you a really great shop that I go to regularly.
blastoffbrett
I smoke about half a pack of cigs a day (Marlboro 27s to be exact). I smoke cigars on occasion, nothing to fancy usually in the 5-10 dollar range. I've always wanted to smoke a pipe but never have. I'll dip on occasion too. Hojo
I bought a pipe on my eighteenth birthday, and I really like it a lot. I don't smoke it so often now, because if I have time for a pipe, it usually means I have time for HOOKAH. If I'm out and moving around for an extended period, I break it out every now and then.I use cigars for a special occasion. When I really want to celebrate or kick back and relax, not worrying that I am burning an $8 bundle of leaves. My personal favorites so far (I've only had maybe 7-8 cigars in my life) are the Rocky Patel Connecticut and the Arturo Fuente Chateau.I still like hookah the best, without a doubt. Sucks right now I cant break out my hookah because I have a cold. I do like the variety of hookah flavors, but sometimes I do really like the taste of natural tobacco, or some of the more complex blends of pipe tobacco. It's a matter of my mood at the time. I like the sound, the billowing smoke, and the nice buzz of the hookah, though.

hookah_hoop
I sometimes enjoy a fine cigar (none of those cheap cigars in a pack, I'm talking a nice hand rolled cigar) and I tried getting into pipe smoking but even though the pipe tobacco smells great when it burns, it always leaves a super nasty taste in my mouth. I'm not sure what it is about the pipe but it hurts me. But of course nothing compares to molasses.
