Why Didn't I Ever Think Of This

Recommended Posts

With all of the hassle of cleaning scalli mods, glass screens etc... why don't we just wrap them in foil before we use them? It seems pretty obvious now and I can't believe that it took me a year to come up with that idea.  ohmy.gif

you want to cover a glass screen in foil? why even use the glass screen anymore.

Makes it much easier not having to clean them. When you clean them you risk dropping them or otherwise breaking them. Part of the reason for using scalli mods and glass screens is that the bowls are easy and convenient to pack. Taking 1 minute to wrap the things in foil saves you a LOT of time later when you don't have to boil them or scrub them with lemon juice and baking soda etc...

Seems legit to me!

Using the glass screen eliminates the need and any adverse health effects because of the use of foil. Covering the screen with foil negates the reason why anybody would get a glass screen in the first place, unless you want an even less efficient means of covering the bowl with foil.

Nah, my idea is to avoid the hassle of cleaning the screen later. I don't see how putting foil on a glass screen would make it less effecient, it's not like aluminum foul should act as an insulator in that instance.

an1m your missing the point.
foil=Alzheimer's or so the myth says.
glass=healthy...er

foil=minimum heat
glass=lots more heat needed.

wrapping glass in foil=no point

 I think everyone else is sort of missing my point. My idea was to save cleaning time, not to improve the abilities of a glass screen by wrapping it in foil.

I first came up with the idea while thinking of ways to not have to clean scalli mods anymore. I've never used the screen personally but I've heard people say that it can be a pain to clean that as well.

I've never seen any scientific study about foil causing alzheimers btw.

i dont think you understand what people are saying if your gonna cover the glass screen in foil why even use it? it only takes >1min to cover a bowl and poke holes. So time saving isnt a reason.

Poking holes in an entired bowl still takes more time than wrapping foil around the bottom of the screen and poking 1 hole. Perhaps people prefer using glass screens but do not want to have to take the time to clean it off afterwards. So time would still be greatly saved by wrapping the glass screen in foil on the bottom. Taking literally about ten seconds and poking ONE hole, is preferable to taking 2 or 3 minutes to cover a phunnel bowl and methodically poke 3 rows of holes... Try if for the scalli mod. I still can't grasp wrapping the screen though.

As for time saving etc., the glass screens take waaay longer to heat up and start smoking than foil.

Okay I see what you're sayign about the time there, again I've never used one.

Yeah it does make more sense for the Scalli mods because I KNOW they get terribly dirty and annoying to clean.

I heard cleaning isn't a BIG issue with the glass screen BUT again I'm talking about people who already OWN and USE glass screens. I'm not saying that using a glass screenis BETTER than foil. I am simply saying that if one is already using the glass screen, why not just wrap it in foil so you don't spend 10 minutes cleaning it off later.? It makes sense to me.

essentially cellphones cause cancer, really? idk but theres alot of shit that hasn't been in use for long enough to really know or in use in these ways for long enough.

Yeah, makes sense for the cleaning part, but the reason a glass screen was made was to eliminate foil. As for the scalli, no comments there.

You gotta give this idea a go and tell us how it works out.

This is true but I have no reason to operate under the assumption that aluminum foil causes one to get alzheimer's disease, no more than I have any reason to believe that masturbation will make people go blind if they do it "frequently." Alzheimer's is caused by genetics and brain nerve cells becoming tangled, scrambling brian signals. How in the world would using aluminum foil on a hookah do that anyway? I'd need to see some  proof for that oen because I feel like it's a pretty hugemongerous stretch.

The whole idea of wrapping the screen in foil is just stupid to me. Put on the foil and smoke. The health effects are negligible compared to the act of smoking in the first place. Wtf is the point here? Save time cleaning right? Just use foil. It'll save you money too cuz you wont have to buy the screen in the first place. Foil works better as a heat conductor and you'll need less coal to do the same job. If you use coconaras, you're looking to save money where ever you can. Just ditch the screen and use the foil.

We don't have a glass screen (thinking about getting on in the future though). Why can't we just put a little pam, or something equivalent, on the bottom of the glass before putting it on the shisha? We cook with the stuff, and I can't see it adding flavor as long as not a ridiculous amount is used.

glass is not hard to clean at all. just put your phunnel, scalli mod, and glass screen in a small bowl of warm water with a couple efferdent tablets (or alkaseltzer). you dont need to scrub anything and in a matter of hours it will be crystal clear.
